how is this done? well i know.. but like.. how do i figure it out? say i pay 35 dollars.. whats a 10% or 15% tip? (okay i'm gonna go get a haircut and it's going to be 35 dollars and i don't wanna look like a moron when i'm in this fancy salon. :blush5: )
thats kinda what i was thinking.. i'm not very good at algebra... i dropped out of the algebra 101.. i'm really good at geometry though!
20 X --- x --- 100 35 20 x 35 = 700 700 / 100 = 7. 20% tip on $35. charge is $7. s'posed to leave 15 - 20% nowaday..
Just move the decimal point once to the left to get 10%. Then for 15% add half of what you got to the total.
to figure out a ten % tip just move the decimal over one spot left 100.....10.0 or 6218....621.8 35.....3.5 to make it a 15% just add on half of the ten% answer 100.....10.0.....add 5....=15.0 boog.... think of it as 15 cents for each dollar so 35 times 15 centscents
okay so 35 at 10% would be 3 dollars and 50 cents... so thats 38.50.. but thats kinda lame waiting for that change.. so 35 at 15% is... (takes 6 minutes to do the math) 3.5 divided by 2 is... 1.7something.. i think... so 40 even? maybe thats why they charge 35 bucks... saves them the hassle of making change because they can't do it either...
all boob jokes aside...my haircuts are usually like $12 and I just give $20...even if they drive me nuts by yakking the whole time I still tip
Good morning, well, I don't want to apply the boob method. If I'm in a hurry I usually go to the cheapest barber shop in town, which is the fastest, too. The coiffeurs there often have trouble with the language spoken here and they often have more fur on their arms than I have on my head . So, as you can guess, I don't want to come close to their boobs, if there are any. I usually give a 25 per cent tip, rounded up to the next even amount, there. That is a fair sum by the local standards. But the folks working at this sort of barber shops are often poor devils earning barely the minimum. Regards Gyro
Is there some law that says u need to tip the person who cuts your hair? I'm pretty sure you don't get arrested for not tipping.
barber shops are dieing here...I dont think there are any anymore except in the main cities...my town just has young girls and old moms working for low pay in strip mall type haircut franchises
people generally tip for services I get tipped all the time...even when I over charge (auto mechanic)
