please help me out people, all my friends (and just random people i talk to) tell me i should write. trouble is, i have no idea what to write about or even how to get started. any tips or pointers are greatly appreciated
Try setting aside at lest thirty minutes to an hour to write each day. Write whatever comes to mind, it doesn't even have to make sense, or have any particular meaning. Jot down things that have happened to you,or keep a journal of daily events. If writing is something you genuienly like and enjoy doing, make time for it. The more you do it the better you will become and eventually ideas of what to write will come to you. If you still having trouble getting started consider taking a creative writing class.
what possesses them to tell you to write? Just the way you carry yourself...the way you talk...? Or can you already? My advice is to you friend, is to look inside yourself and around you. Lay it all out there on that truth table and let your feelings about everything, find the words for you. Be descriptive of them. If you're inspired, pick up and pen and write. peace & love
Just kick back and let words flow, don't force them out, don't hold them back and most importantly don't be afraid. My first two notebooks were filled with absolute shite. I reread them recently and it was amazing. I was screaming for some love, for someone to help soothe me, but I couldn't bring myself to say it, I was pretending all through my writing that I was happy. It was horrible stuff to read but it's amazing at the same time. Don't worry if what you write it utter shite, it'll get better. Besides, if you don't want to write, then don't write. Or at least try it and if you have a sucessful session and it doesn't give you a kick then don't try it again. Doing something you love is much better. Blessings Sebbi
Keep a journel, write in it every day about anything. Tis one of the best tips for any body learning to right
Might sound stupid but before you do all of the above you must sit down and put a pen to paper.... no im not being partonising. Thats the first step.. puth the pen on the paper and write the first word that comes into your head... even if its "ummm"..."err...i dont know what to write... spite this is all a load of shit, jump on the bandwaggon fall off the other side, this waggons too small for a million and one sheeep so i ll take my low roads nad eat carrots till dawn" ...ok so that was just as example (no that wasnt planed hence why it makes no sence) write a few pasges like that without taking your pen from the papper or stoping... then... read back and highlight little words or sayings or rhymes that you like... and go from there.
wow thanks everyone, thats all really helpful, lol esp. fleassy, that was maaaaad. hopefully i'll get writing some good stuff before long
It helps to read a lot. You get a feel for what kind of writing you like, and it helps open up the floodgates of creativity
I think you should write only if it is something you want to do not just because your friends say or think you should...it is something you must feel passionate for, that is if you want to really write well...you must find your self in that special moment where it is only you and the thoughts inside your head...u must be able to push all else aside and concentrate on one thing one moment and the words will flow...focus on your emotions and the way you are feeling right now, be fully aware of every little detail...focus on what you see, what you hear, what you feel, what you smell, this is very important and being able to describe in complete detail...for you are aiming to take the reader on a ride and drag them into your world and force them to see from your perpective.
