Do you think it necessarily corrupts revolutionary practice? Can communism make use of bourgeois electoral politics to bring about a true socialist state?

What was Trotsky's position on that?

I do not think participation definitely brings about corruption. I feel that participating in bourgeois elections is only acceptable if the participants understand that these elections are to be used as a soap box to spread the word and raise class consciousness. Capitalism can not be reformed out of existence, the ruling class would never allow this, but it can be used to better worker's conditions and increase consciousness. I see Venezuela and Hugo Chavez as an example of this.
