In the past 9 years the US Government has spent over a trillion dollars for the war in afghanistan and Iraq (countries which at one point were our allies), exact number grows but is around 1,063,000,000,000. There are 290 million people in the US, estimated about 112,000,000 "family units", exact number is not know but thats the closeest I found according to the last US census in 2000. So here's an idea for future generations in power to consider, lets say we didnt go to war, and over the past 10 years this money was just stockpiled, 1 trillion dollars, and was then divided amongst the people, you and me, equally among each home, that would be around $10,000 per home/family. Now, with all the problems people bitch about with being in debt, in debt, IN DEBT, OMG the countries IN DEBT, thats all you see and hear about anymore DEBT DEBT DEBT, now WHAT IF instead of us spending all this money on war and destruction, on weapons and bullets and tyranny we put the moiney BACK into the hands of the people?? If my family had $10,000 right now, it would pay off CC bills, help reduce many monthly drags and give a better helping hand to us as individuals. Pay off this, give money to this, we start spending some more, etc. etc. How about you? Your household? How would $10,000 benefit you?? This is my dream for the future, put the money aside that is being spent on non sense and destruction of our own human culture and instead fund us the people and evolve as a species?? What do you think??
Oh,you dreamer ,you. The super rich have their reasons for war. As long as young people keep showing up to become cannon fodder, wars will continue. There has not been a declared war since ww2. Our young can, have been and are sent off to do the bidding of the war machine at the behest of the president, constitution notwithstanding. You have a good idea, tho.
I'm not sure if everyone should get $10,000, but really that money could go along way for social and infrastructure problems. Probably could wipe out hunger and homelessness. That would never happen however, as certain people and organizations have too much to gain through war.
If somehow, they did stockpile the money, and gave it back, it wouldn't work out $10,000 per house, the richer people who payed more taxes would get more of it, than the poorer people who probably need it more. But still, I get what you're saying, if the country stil had that money, it would be a hell of a lot better.
