If they want you bad enough to be after your e-mails your ass is already toast.

Old news, but some people don't know so it's good you posted this.

You must mean "If they want you bad enough to be after your e-mails your ass is already toast."

Use tor. Encrypt your messages with GPG. That should go a long way.

I think I remember safe mail selling out a while ago too. Like I said, and like Binaryshadow used to say, GPG!

this machine is more of a fossilized dinosaur, so gpg made it die.

i needs a new one before i'll be able to get it to work properly

and i know hush has done it on numerous occasions, and shit, they basically tell you "we will let the cops see this if they ask nicely". i'd had never actually read this article until recently.

While I already suspected this was the case, I think I'll let a couple of my vendors know about it since some of them seem to think hushmail = 100% anonymity, which it isn't. Thanks for sharing this.

how does GPG differ from tor? does it slow down your internet connection like tor does?

I think using anything other than non-encrypted webmail (gmail etc) just draws unnecessary attention. Nothing is truly safe, so why draw attention to yourself?

GPG is what hushmail used, but they don't have a copy of the key. Only you and your contact can unencrypted the message. They don't look like english.

crap. ive been using hotmail all this time. but using unencrypted mail attracts less attention right? plus im ordering from a company not a personal dealer.
is it possible to ask the company to use GPG?

Encrypted mail vs. unencrypted mail are just about others reading what you've written. If you want anyone but the recipient and yourself to read your mail, go unencrypted. Attracting attention (from government) for using encrypted mail does not happen as far as anyone knows. [EDIT: unless of course you're in Iran, China, Burma, most middle eastern countries or other various backwards shit-holes]

If the company you're buying from is totally straight up and has no idea you might possibly be using their products as drugs, they will be suspicious if you want them to use PGP. If they advertise their products as "research chemicals" they won't be suspicious and the better ones will gladly use PGP in communications.
