i've had my dreads for probably two months noww. i was wondering if anyone thinks it is harmful in any way to blowdry dreads once you get out of the shower. i usually put it on "cool" not "hot". also, i have some loose hairs they are not connected to any dreads whatsoeverr, can i just backcomb them into a dread that i already have? (backcombing is how i got them) thank youu!
loose hairs are fine, leave them and they'll find their way in soon enough. its really just a massive waiting game with dreads.
1) Why would it be harmful to blowdry dreads?! Cool or hot won't make a difference. The only way I could see you being concerned about this is in new dreads, the blowyness would unravel the dreads. The dreads won't unravel more with blow drying than they would through being washed/the natural dread process. Get on with it. 2) Leave them ALONE you'll get used to them/start to like them/forget about them Backcombing them won't do a thing. If you are so obsessed about loose hairs learn how to use a crochet hook.
I always blowdry, it prevents mold. loose hairs: I'd just leave em. If they really bother you just pinch the hair between your thumb and index ringer and rub in a circle until it makes adready ball, then tuck it into the base of the nearest lock. It may not stay there the first or fifth time, but it will stay eventually.
loose hairs are awesome in the later stages you'll see. Don't mind them they will do what they want. DONT rebackcomb
Kill your comb. If you're a bitch, you can crochet the loose hairs in. Otherwise wait and they'll do their own thing.
i dont understand why people hate their loose hairs? at 2 months no matter what you will have loose hairs. at 2 months, my hair was just a bunch of loose hairs looking like a bird nest. 10 months later its looking more like dreads, but still a bunch of loose hair. hell, my bf with 3 year old dreads has loose hairs. i love those cuz they get all curly and wavy
thanks to you sir! it's been on my mind a lot whether to use a blowdry method, ust didn't have the balls to give it a go
In Summer, I Squeeze Every Dread With A Towel, Then Let Them Air Dry. In Winter, I Squeeze Every Dread With A Towel, Then Stand Under The Main Livingroom Air Vent Of The Reverse Cycle Air Cond, But Only For Long Enough For The "Undergrowth" *loose hairs* To Dry. Even In Winter *which it is here* The Dreads Usually Air Dry In About 4 Hours Unless The Humidity Is Up Around 80%. My Hair Dryer Is A 1200watt Model, And From Past Experience, I Have Found It To Be About As Useful, As "Tits On A Bull".... If You Have To Use One, Keep The Heat Low, And Be Prepared For A Long Wait For Results..... Cheers Glen.
wouldn't prostitute my lemondreads time-consumption as the hair drys... just a wondering. Would it make the outer layer blonde with the sun on lemon juice?
YES.!!.... I Used To Use Lemon Juice In My Youth, For The Natural "Surfie Look". Today Is My One Year Anniversary Of Dreads, arty:And Over This Time, I Have Washed Them In Nothing But Baking Soda. This Is Starting To Send Them Blonde, Which Pleases Me Greatly... I Intended To Bleach Them After They Had Formed, But My Hair Is Very Fine, And It Was Quite Possible Damage From The Bleach Would Cause Them To Eventually Snap Off..... Somewhere On This Forum I Read An Article About The Long Term Effects Of Baking Soda Lightening Hair, But I'm Stuffed If I Can Find It. Cheers Glen.
ya Glen I concidered baking soda as well but I figure for a healthy start to my soon to be long term dreads I wanted to start off with an all natural& fruity source as my entangling begins. Also I have heard it lightens in the heat of natural sunlight. I quite enjoy a bath by natural light and a comforting bottle of lemon juize to wash down a doobi. Happy Anniversary sir!
