Anybody know how important gpa is in determining entrance to decent law schools? My gpa is only a 3.0 and I only have two semesters left at USF for my BA Poly sci. I have heard acceptance is mostly determined by your LSAT score which would I think is good for me, but how many good law-schools can I expect to realistically get accepted to with a 160+ and a shitty gpa? Also would a criminal record be a huge obstacle here or just for passing the bar?
Does GPA really matter? It sucks but most of the time yes. Although i believe in any field if you already know someone in it, and they can help your credibility, its almost as if your gpa goes up without the schooling. I suggest getting to know someone in the field already, know what im sayin. School totally fucks over smart people due to prerequisites. Some though can get through it tho. My family knows two doctors, one who is a breast cancer surgeon, the other a plastic surgeon, both have said they haven't used any of the 4 years of intense math that was required. Both are very successful people. anyways, Law school is usually very expensive, but not all schools are the same. Any college that has a better rep will cost more, that doesn't mean a lower budget one will get you the same knowledge. I suggest try and make friends 20 years older than yourself to get into this field. Get knowledge and reputation from someone already there, not just your teacher. Go law firms now!! don't let anyone say you can't, or don't, or blah blah blah. good luck.
