I've been growing some Heavenly Blue Morning Glory this year, and realised how strikingly similar it was to a very common weed that grows in the UK. I picked a few white flowers from this weed and have identified it as Convolvulus Arvensis, commonly called bindweed; it is indeed Morning Glory! What I cannot seem to find out is, if all species of Convolvulus contain LSA, or if it is limited to a few such as Heavenly Blue. More specifically, does the white bindweed that I have picked wild contain any LSA, and would a nonpolar solvent followed by alcohol extraction be suitable? Thanks in advance
is Convolvulus like the latin or more proper name for morning glories? If so no not all strains contain LSA but more than just Heavenly Blue do, I couldn't tell you the ones that do.
you know what disregard everything I said, to be honest I have no clue what i'm talking about when it comes to LSA, here you go http://www.erowid.org/plants/morning_glory/morning_glory.shtml
I've been reading Erowid for some time now, but it does not distinguish between different species. It only mentions I do not know if the common bindweed is in fact Convolvulus Arvensis or another species of Convolvulus. I would make a guess that it is in fact Pearly Gates, but I have no way of knowing this besides looking at images on google. In any case, I still have the Heavenly Blue that I've been growing myself Thanks for the quick reply, I hope someone else can shed some more light on the issue.
It appears that Heavenly Blue, Flying Saucers and Pearly Gates are all Ipomoea Tricolor (multiple-colours). Pearly Gates look very similar to Convolvulus Arvensis (images in same order) unless one of the photos is a mis-identification... With this in light, I will not be experimenting with the white weeds for LSA content. I'll stick to the Heavenly Blue that I'm growing
whats we got here is a failure to communicate .. not you guys, but the WWW.. it seems today that most the information related to living organisms is really not in order.. funny thing is pornography search engines work rather well though. So its easy to get distracted.. I may as well forget posting now cause im sure you are off now looking at porn and forget all the flower jibberjabber .. Anyhow the point im trying to make is.. Thats some pretty fucked up shit there.. I would like more information on this species but most of it is repeated text just in a different version.. :banghead: "Why oh why Internet are you like this? ... I am just a poor child trying to do my homework, I do not want to be ass raped tomorrow by the evil nuns and priests for not finishing my assignment.." :willy_nilly: ass porn makes it look less painful btw and thankfullest the CP engine works great too.. Ok heres what I got for your OP.. this is common morning glory plant, bindweed or whatever.. Yes it has LSA but it has harmful toxins in it also.. You may use them from time to time , if this is the correct species , it will make you more drowsy than heavenly blues, pearly.. they should be avoided if this is them white weedy ones that grow everywhere without assistance from man. :eggnog:
Pearly Gates are much larger then the wild species.. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/14/Convolvulus_arvenvis_flower_leaves.jpg Calystegia sepium.. misidentified morning glory. this is a bind weed also..
It used to be like this before the internet regarding psychoactive mushrooms. every single mushroom identifying book that had an entry for psilocybe species seemed to have that entry torn out. I assume by enthusiastic mycophyles. Identification used to be handed down from person to person. If you didn't know somebody who knew how to identify, you didn't eat mushrooms.
One should be able to distinguish Calystegia sepium from Convolvulus Arvensis fairly easily by the leaf shape? Will this extraction method eliminate the toxins, as it does for Ipomoea? http://www.erowid.org/plants/morning_glory/morning_glory_extraction2.shtml
you would think this be true, many people are in a hurry if they assume they are breaking a law.. same as mushroom picking, running on a farm cause swim seen a bunch of shrooms growing, picked them fast and ran. only to id them as inactive.. they are mild to being with, but you wouldnt want to keep eating a toxic one over the a period of time. Just as well you do not want to abuse LSA month on end.. It is toxic to some extent that way, since not all human beings have the same lifestyle.. it too can give you ergot poisoning.. Which impo still varies from person to person. Still shouldnt be abused..
Once or twice a year should be okay then, it's not like I have a farm of the stuff Thanks for the info everyone
