set: excited for a new molecule, excited for teachings

    setting: my ganges

substance: ~32" san pedro turned into a shot of cactus juice.

    2 of those yielded:

The shot was consumed at 10:30am. It was without a doubt the most vile substance to have ever entered my body, ever. It tasted like what you would imagine cactus sap would taste like; oily, grainy, waxy, with brittle plant particulate and intensely bitter chlorophyllic taste, it coated my entire mouth, tongue, throat, and stomach as soon as it made contact, and the texture and taste assaulted me for many minutes as I threw orange juice and bread into my mouth to try and neutralize it's presence.

I then got on my bike and rode down to my river. It started to hit me on the ride there, a bit of warmth spreading through my body, relaxation, a bit of gut rot.

By the time I got there, locked up my bike, and walked to my favorite spot, I was fighting nausea pretty strongly, spitting, coughing. I brought some ginger ale to help and it did the trick, I ended up not vomiting at all, in fact didn't have any major GI disturbances at all.

The come up for me was about 2 hours, and it was characterized by powerful waves of energy coursing through me, waves of warmth, peace, relaxation, bliss, empathy, stillness, exhilaration, energy. The medicine was beating into me like a drum, in a slow pounding. I sat on the shore and pushed my hand deeply into the gritty sand rhythmically, feeling every grain between my fingers, grasping at the wet soil as my feet lay submerged in still cool waters. I smiled at the beauty of sand and water.

The peak came suddenly, and like with all phenethylamines (for me), it was characterized by it's extremely high degree of sobriety. Like 2c-c, 2c-d, 2c-e, and MDMA (to a lesser extent), it was so clear headed that I feel strange calling it a trip. I am used to the awesome crushing force of the tryptamine and the merciless disolvement of the lysergics; this was a gentle thing, so gentle that I was touched by how softly it covered me, I felt great warmth and beauty in this one, and for me it's message was simple and unexpected . . . love.

I had very minimal visuals, there was a brightening and a blurring of everything, and while I didn't really notice it outdoors when I came home about 8 hours into it and went on the forums for a little bit I had some trouble reading the screen. I closed my eyes to see if I could explore some CEV but I could not still myself and focus, there was just nothing coming from the visual end and it was all mostly affective. I had some disolvement of anxiety and some emotional opening like with molly, and came to terms with some things that have been happening in my life and made a difficult decision that I'm scared of and am not sure if I will regret it but is what I want truly.

My friend stopped by about 4 hours into it on his bike and I broke out the cannabis with him, we sat on an almost vertical cliff and smoked many bowls and watched the river and spoke about the mescaline and about many things. Normally with tryptamines the addition of marijuana multiplies the strength of the trip greatly, but with phens I find that the phen blocks the effects of the cannabis and maintains that sharp-minded edge, the amphetamine state of clearness and concentration.

I came back home 8 hours into it, feeling mostly just a bit of motor uncoordination, some excitement, and being a little lost in my thoughts with regards to the emotional openings. I lay down and closed my eyes and listened to music and it was very deeply serene.

At midnight I could still feel the effects but went to bed and slept well. Today I feel perfectly fine and think back to yesterday and wonder what that was. There was no effect on my ego, no synesthesia, nothing that whacks you in the face with a 2x4 . . . it was like my cells were smiling, letting go of some bullshit, enjoying the moment. The journey was not characterized by its distance, but by its proximity; it was a journey to now and here.

I have the bearer of this juice potted and growing now, and I look forward to future encounters with mother mescaline, the heart of the earth.

What name does the community give it?
It has been 34 years since peyote. I still shiver and gag in recollection of this taste treat.
I find mescaline to be the most gentle of all "trips", not assaulting or challenging but sharpening presence, bringing into focus miraculous beauty.
The consensual consciousness that marks time, sees only the past.

So was it a good first experience with this substance?
Is it something you are going to try again?
It does stand apart from other psychedelics doesn't it?
Glad you finally got the chance to try it.

I too found mescaline (via a san pedro preperation) to be extremely clear headed. I have been sitting on about 2 feet. Not sure when I'll consume them. I almost forgot I had any until I read your TR.

I too want to know whether or not you plan to explore it further.

I was not prepared lol. It was like drinking flower juice.
Yes there were interesting effects on time, sometimes flowing so achingly slowly that 15 minutes felt like an hour, other times 2 hours would pass in the blink of an eye.
I enjoyed it very much :). It was exactly what I needed, the gentleness and direction of it was perfect for my life right now. I will take this as often as possible, it is very unique indeed, very positive and coaxing of maturity within.
It's not TOO bad, even though it's the most disgusting thing on earth, you're drinking very little of it, I only had to take one big mouthful and then a small sip to finish it off. Not going to lie though, as soon as my tongue registered what it was floating in it sent a large emergency signal to my awareness and I had to consciously stop myself from spitting it out. "Not for human consumption". Yeah nature is insane, the effortless beauty of everything.

good, I'm glad you got to try it and hope you have more opportunities in the future. Maybe increase dose?:p

It does take a concerted act of will to force it down once your body registers the taste. :ack2:
When I did it last year, I had 6.5 ounces to down, I could only get down 5.
I just could not bring myself to swallow that last shot no matter how hard I tried.

Increase dose always goes without saying ;)

Yeah I was not expecting how 'planty' it would be hahaha, like if you took a field of grass and distilled a shot of liquid from it. Herbilicious.

Glad you enjoyed the taste writer!

Its definitely one of those things that reminds me to respect this stuff and not overindulge with it.

Good report, did the subtlety of it surprise you at all? I remember my first trip with the stuff I was thinking 'This is it?' during the comeup and then somewhere well into the peak my mindset changed to 'This is it!'

That's great you were able to experience some emotional opening and come to a decision on that issue you were having. Sometimes the visuals are pretty good but as I'm sure you know alkaloid content is Extremely variable with this one and to me visuals are not at the heart of the mescaline journey.

Perhaps a different cacti instead of increasing dose, maybe perviuan torch or t. Bridgesii, 32" of this stuff is making my stomach turn thinking about it. I had better visuals from a few 24" experience with San pedro than my 30" experience. Around 24" is where I think my sweet spot with this stuff is, I actually found 30" pretty sedating in a way. Its not a balls to the wall hallucinogenic experience to me its subtle and very effective medicine but 'if you can just get your mind together' and focus with eyes closed you can have some pretty spectacular closed eye visions.

Actually, that may be due to the differing potency of the cacti. Different ones grown in different conditions can have vastly different alkaloid contents. More cacti from a different batch could actually mean less mescaline.

The 24" and the 30" i tried were from the exact same cacti, maybe it had not reached a level of maturation again or something. Yes different cacti can have varying levels of mescaline.

That is peculiar. Did you use a different preparation method? Like a variation in time on the stove/in the oven or temperature. You seem like the kind of person that would be pretty cautious about that though.

I find that trips are affected by so many different factors it's hard to assess what could have made for a stronger trip. I've had two trips off two hits of acid off the exact same sheet. One trip was clearly stronger than the other, but both did have visuals that were about on par w/ each other. Idk man. Like I said peculiar.

Good story writer. Finally partook of the san pedro. It would be nice to include a prep method for us. So many methods. Trying to cross that bridge of terrible tasting liquid. Im prone to the Convolvulaceae seeds. The medicine is alot easier to prepare and quite similar in effect to san pedro.

You did bring us the message. Not many travel that road often.
