That's my mom in the blue dress next to me and Lubba, my dress consultant in the zebra print in the back. She was great. If you ever happen to be in Horseheads, NY shopping for a wedding dress, go to David's Bridal and request her. She was very attentive and creative with her suggestions in addition to letting me try all of the dresses I came there to try on (where others had been more than a little pushy). So, big thanks to Lubba. She rocks.
You look beautiful! How many did you try on? I have been looking for mine, but just cannot decide on a style.
Thanks all! I tried on six dresses in all, but I did soooooo much research and nothing grabbed my attention like this one did... When I put on the first dress, I cried, because the enormity of the situation really hit me. When I tried this one on, boy I got dizzy, haha! Best part is, it was originally an $1100 dress, but because they're having a massive sale right now and I got a discount card at a bridal show, we got it knocked down to $500. Not bad when a decent wedding dress in NYC goes for at least $3000... We're paying it off over time. Did I mention the veil was $200? But my mom wouldn't let me walk out without it, so she got it for me. I almost dropped dead. I'm so so lucky...
I've been looking online and there are so many I like, it's going to hard. It's great you find your perfect dress - and you have to have a veil
You know for all the planning I did, I picked something I NEVER would have picked out of a catalog, so whatever you do, always TRY THEM ON. You'll never know what you might fall in love with. The hardest part, I think, is trying to pick a place to try on first... I walked in there with pictures of exactly what dresses I wanted to try on. I knew I wanted an A-LINE WHITE DRESS, with a RED SASH, sparkly bead work, but NO PEARLS, NO LACE, and I wanted my hair UP with a GIANT TIARA on top. I walked out with an ivory mermaid dress, with my hair down and a lacy veil with pearls on it. Not that I regret a single thing, and red will still be a big part of my ceremony since it will be in the fall... Also, we're still working on whether or not I need the tiara. Seems like I could get one on ebay for $20 whereas the one in that picture is $200! Sorry, but I am NOT a platinum bride by any means. That means no excessive spending on things I can easily find at Claire's.
I'm just looking online for styles, so that I have a little idea of what is about and what I like. But, so far I still have no idea! Will be going soon to have a look at some and then it will time to really start thinking about what exactly I want. A tiara always looks lovely though! I never thought about weddings when I was little as many do, so at the moment, still have no idea on colour schemes, or anything. I walked past a shop the other day and had a quick look inside. None of the dresses in there were under about £7000. So, I know it'll be expensive.
very pretty! weddings make me cry.. this thread is making me teary eyed.. i'm very happy for you! he's a lucky man!
Hey that's really pretty.. and I'm not usually a fan of the traditional white dress, but I like the ruching/texture of it and it looks like it was made specifically for you Congrats
