who here plays an instrument? do you like to jam out? how often do you jam out? and do you have people to play with? what do they play? i have a dream of a world where everyone plays an instrument. last night i had some pretty good jams with two of my best friends. generally us 3 have been like a terrible trio for about as long as i can remember. it's definitely nice being able to also play music with my two best friends. i'm not quite as good as they are, but i can still play guitar alright and especially when they are also playing it raises my standard of playing. it's great just being able to put down a rhythm until one of my friends explodes into the beat on his drum set, while my other friend tears it up on electric. it's like the layers to the music fit together perfectly like a puzzle, and it flows so naturally and comes so easy. just jamming with these guys really brings out a whole new dynamic to how we relate to eachother. musically our personalities seem to come to their apex. sometimes it's just like 'ooohhh, THAT is why you are the way you are' after an intense jam. it brings out the core of our personality and expresses it musically. it can be some damn funny shit when we are in a playful mood and fucking around but still stringing together a tune. my one friend plays the drums, and he is joining a band with 4 or 5 of our other friends and they are going to try to get a project started. my other friend plays guitar, and he is mostly just trying to create music but doing it solo for the large part. i've jammed out with other people, but jamming out with my best friends is the best. for epicness and fluency, and hilarity. it's also pretty fucking great after having a spontaneous musical moment of brilliance. afterwards it's like 'whoa dude' *jaws dropped*
i play guitar drums and bass. i jam on guitar whenever but my drum kit is at my guitarists house so i only get loud on them over there lol. i play bass whenever our bassist cant make it or if we're just fuckin around
I recently bought a djembe that i've been jamming on occasionally. my brother also bought a ukulele and my friend plays acoustic guitar and we just keep all the instruments in my room and jam every once in a while after a burn sesh.
nice good to hear ya'll. speaking of awsome instruments one of my friends has a sitar and overall we have a few exotic and out of the ordinary instruments.
I play guitar and want to produce (electronic music) since I cant find anyone to play music with. I got some music I made last year under my contact info on my profile. I used a kind of crappy program for that and hopefully within the next year I can work with a different program.
music makes the world a better place. i say this is a beautiful dream! the collaboration of different musicians is amazing, being a part of it must be GRAND i wish i was more musically inclined and had bigger hands i can play the clarinet
we've got a whole recording setup at my friend place with some nice mics and a soundboard. i don't know what program he uses now, but we've used some pretty shitty ones over the years lol. but now things are a little better.
I'm completely fine with pro tools. I'm sure there are some more elite ones but I was using acid (the program) and the version I had didn't have much flexibility.
Djembe, sweet I want to meet someone who plays that instrument and match it up with my didg. My friend preston is a pretty good DJ (dubstep) and the other day after consuming a few beverages, I matched my didgeridoo with same flow and it sounded siiiccckk!! Just doesnt sound right with some songs, only the really grimey soundin dubstep, 'twould add alot to the build up and drops and what not
that is because the didgeridoo is one of the greatest instruments known to man, fits in so many different random places and is cool all by itself, or with a group of didg's being played together. At All Good Dr.Didg hosted this Bring Your Own Didg session and got a lot of people going at once, it was simply amazing. I couldn't stop moving. sorry i love the sounds produced by digs and how much of a beat you can get them...even the beginning of keller's dance of the freek! it's not easy to play so props
Thanks, and yes it is a great instrument I feel like im in a deep meditation once I get playing for like 30 mins plus. Dr. Didg at all good!!!! ahhhh you lucky human, that sounds so incredibly great!
i have an ear for it, and i've had a few people say i have alot of potential. but anyone can play. even if you are musically inclined it still takes alot of practice and dedication and time, and perseverence. just give it some effort, getting started is the hardest part. hell for the longest time no one would even jam with me very much i was so bad lol. i'm still nowhere near the level of some of my friends, but it doesn't stop me from loving the music and enjoying it.
those last posts remind me of when at dave matthews at bonnaroo this year(the last show closing out the festival) before dave came out this dude 15-20 feet away from us stood up and pulled out some bagpipes and started jamming out. he had the whole crowd cheering for him. literally thousands of people chanted him on to a second song. he was so damn good.
^ That is sick I was there, but I was toooo tired to watch dave cuz I ate some 2ci the night before then mushrooms for breakfast (which made John Butler one if not the best show ive ever seen) and then drank all day as i came down from the shrooomies, so I just like slept the whole show. Saw all of phoenix though!! (and the clouds/colors of the sky during phoenix were an experience by themselves!)
HELL YES MAN john butler was one of the best shows. i ate 5 hits of acid that morning. dave was overrated anyway. he came out totally wasted. it was a little lame. but the bagpipes dude on the other hand.... EPIC!!!
i play hand drums (many kinds) and piano, as of today. i'd like to get some flutes someday in past years i used to jam out with friends once a week to once a month but now it's really rare..we jammers kinda spread out since and we haven't met up in so long hmm i should find new people to jam w/
i mainly play guitar but i can also play a little bass, piano, ukulele, and extremely little bit of drums lol guitar is by far my favorite though, recently ive been getting into slide guitar and trying to get better at it id jam with anyone that wants too though i mostly play blues
i play bass and a kaoss pad 3, sometimes together and some times separate. gotta love jammin tho... i know a good drummer and an excellent guitar player i jam with. real versatile group, weve played everything from folk to trance.. to folk-trance
