Never had that happen, I must say. Not for years and I was wearing shoes when I did ! I guess if you look where you are going then it wont happen - shod or not. Doesn't bother me. It's only water (or 99% of it is) at the end of the day. Yes I have actually. It stung for a second but that was about it. I have much tougher soles now than I did then though so I can't imagine it would be that big a deal at all.
has anyone goten blisters from the roads being really hot? i did the other day! that road was boiling!
I wasn't barefoot at the time I was wearing shoes but the road was SO hot that you could feel your feet pushing down into the road (asphalt, tar etc..). Wouldn't want to be barefoot then. Warlock
my feet were really black, and my houesmate she has a bright white carpet.....i knew shed go mad if she saw my feet so went into the local chuerch and cleaned my feet with the holy water!LOL
Well, Arlia, I don't think it was a good idea to wash your feet in the holy water. To begin with, it is sacred, blessed, for those of us who profess the Catholic religion. And also it wasn't very considered as Catholics use to deep their fingers in the holy water before doing the Cross signal... I guess people wandered why the water was dirty, so maybe you caused some trouble to the local priest Regards DG
Ever stepped on a shard of glass and not noticed that until you step inside with a blood trail behind you everywhere? Even as a nudist I take care of my feet and put something on to avoid injury. The aforementioned shard of glass really happened and required ER attention and 3 stitches.
All of it... I've been barefoot all summer for years and nowdays I don't care as much where I step. I've gotten used to my feet not beeing perfectly clean but rather reflecting the neighbourhood surface. I do however try to look out for smashed bottles as the thiny slivers are very sharp. It's not so cool to have a sliver buried in a callous causing a wierd sensation every now and then and it's not so cool start digging for that sliver if the soles are really dirty.
Been stung by more bees between my toes than I can remember. Stepped in some dog poop a coupla times. Luckily it belonged to my very tiny dog. As long as it's a womens public restroom, I can do it, but if it were a mens room, I'd think twice cuz of the pee on the floor. Spit is my worst and grossest barefoot enemy.
I've only ever stepped in glass once and poo once. The glass was worse. And once I took my shoes off, and a wasp flew inside and stung me in the foot when I put them back on.
I'm a full time barefooter and today was the kind of day I dread the most. I stepped on a yellowjacket bee that was in the grass and he (or she) got me right in my instep. My foot is sore and swollen. While surfing I found this thread and my foot started hurting again. Better have some more Coors Light pain killer.
Bugs or bees - no Poop - no, I tend to look where I'm going Public restrooms - check (necessity) cigarettes - check....have put cigs out barefoot many times.
it happened to me two or three times and it wasn't really painful, even when i caught the dog end between toes. usually i realize that i stepped on a lit cig only a few seconds after, i have a 3-5 seconds gap between coming in contact with something hot (like a stove) and actually feeling the heat. i can snuff cigarettes with my heel and once i even stomped on a pine needle fire started by a cig by a customer outside the shop, but i admit i was showing off.
I once managed to burn my feet fairly badly on the pavement. It was a ridiculously hot day and the sun had been shining directly on them for hours. This was back when I was inexperienced in such matters (You have to make mistakes to learn, as they say ^^) Apart from that I've not had any mishaps at all. Though on my last barefoot hike, my feet were starting to get a little sore by the end (long knobbly/rocky tracks).
public rest rooms are jucky, but just to freak people out,i used to kill burning cigarette buts against my bare feet,i have stepped in dog poo,in school,to avoid english grammer,we used to squelsh corn crickets so their guts stuck between our toes,we went to school barefoot, and the crickets stank to high heaven,in winter,we also went barefoot, and often stood in warm cow dung to warm our feet. The worst is chewed bubble gum on a hot tar mac,i've been stung twice on my toes, once stepped in a broken beer bottle, and had to get stitches, and the needles bent 3 times due to my callert soles, had cars run over my toes. When i still trained martial artists, and we did nature training,my students had two choices, prabtice barefoot, but only step on cacti or thorns or stones,or wear shoes half filled with a mixture of glass, thumb nails,(points up),and thorns and serated pebbles.
Never happened to me. Nope...I just watch where I step. Doesn't bother me at all. I do it all the time. Yes, I barely felt it thanks to my thick soles.
