I just watched Dead Snow, a Norwegian cult horror move set in the snowy mountains. Fairly standards formula- a bunch of high school kids go for a vacation in a remote cabin, and end up getting butchered to death, this time by WW2 German nazi zombies. It's actually pretty good, a bit cheesy in places and suitably over the top, but also fun to watch and the whole premise and special effects make it quite creepy at times, almost Hitchcockian/Twilight Zone at times.
sounds like every other scary movie ever invented lol the whole teenager cabin thing is used so much. but nazi zombies = awesome.
Yeah the make-up department did good. Duck, give it a chance. I thought it was a bit shit at the start, but it has some moments that could easily be straight out of a hitchcock movie.
I started to doubt it was the same movie whenever McLeod said it was made like last year, cause this was like from the 80s (on a channel for obscurities), but decided to ride it out when Irminsul chipped in =P
Nazi zombies are just so evil... I do love them so. Even though it has Nazi zombies, this is pretty much the worst movie ever made. However, since I am a hardcore zombie fan I like it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VihBNOXVRTk"]YouTube- Shock Waves (1977): Part 1/9
I never quite understood the fascination with nazi zombies like in the movies zombie lake, shockwaves, and zombie holocaust; it must be a 'generational thing' like the fascination with 'nun porn' back in the 70s Hotwater
I think it's because zombies by themselves are just not scary enough. They are not evil, they are just predatory creatures doing what they do to survive. Nazis were evil killing machines. Make them undead and they are even worse.
I just like well made films. I thought they did good on the make-up and the whole premise and setting was quite original. Nothing to do with a fascination about nazi/zombies...
I agree but certainly in more recent times zombies have been tweaked enough to make them scarier than ever without the nazi symbolism. Hotwater
I think it also has a lot to do with the stories of Nazi scientists trying to reanimate the dead to create zombie soldiers. Makes the movie more "what if?" than plain old boogeyman scary.
Invasion of the Body Snatchers was a pretty good zombie novel, movie, and remake. It didn't have uniformed zombies, which in a way added to the tension because people couldn't easily prove who the zombies were but they knew something was wrong with them. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Invasion_of_the_Body_Snatchers http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Invasion_of_the_Body_Snatchers_%281978_film%29 .
Wow, my dyslexia made me read the title as "Dead Show" and then the rest of the posts made no sense at all! Dude don't joke about Nazi zombies, it could happen in real life man!
