After giving it some thought, if you are referring to the time in the early 60's when they were at Millbrook, the "vials" they most likely were drinking were these:


100ug from Sandoz. Millbrook was before LSD was illegal and Leary got it from Sandoz Labs. So it was not the same as "vials" are today; 100 hit, but rather single dose. I could easily see them drinking 10 at one time for 1000ugs.
I think the first time Leary got LSD they mixed it up with confectioners sugar and made cake icing. They had a mayo jar full and a teaspoon full was a solid dose.

 

You probably wouldn't be able to do much of anything while you were "uber tripping". Most likely you wouldn't be able to move after about 20 minutes after dosing, because in your world, there would be no you. At a dose as high as a thumbprint ego death is inevitable.

the dose/response is hyperbolic so there is little difference between 500 and 2000 mcg but a big difference between 200 and 500.

 

A 5 hit trip you can still touch the bottom of the pool, 10 hits your completely in the deep end. 10 hits you better hope you can swim!!

 

That's a good way of putting it. I thought I had reached some kind of saturation of effects at 5 hits, a peak of the substance, but 15 was almost like a different drug, it was . . . . ~
