I kind of stumbled across this forum, but it looks like my kind of place. I'm a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley, I'm a writer and I consider myself to be an enthusiastic seeker of knowledge, a student of life. I've worked in corporate America, taught high school and lived with a bunch of people in Oregon who affectionately referred to themselves as "drug-crazed hippies." At some point in my life, I became much more interested than I had been in such things as history, spirituality, religion, philosophy, the nature of consciousness, utopian communities and unconditional love. As a young man, I was something of a math and science whiz, but I gave it up for things like drugs, sex and rock n' roll. I can't say that I ever regretted the decision. It looks like there are many subjects on this forum that interest me, and I'm going to look around a bit. I look forward to meeting the folks here. By the way, I live in Hawaii, thus the "aloha."
Greetings Mr Cranston. Lived there myself for 6 years. Nice ,eh?--(are we talkin' "The Shadow-a wealthy young man about town"?
Scratcho, Yes, The Shadow is my kind of super hero. It's too bad that movie they made about him with Alec Baldwin was such a piece of garbage. The Shadow "knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men." One of the things he also knows, although never got around to mentioning, is that there's also a lot of love and kindness in the hearts of men. I see that you live in Springfield, Oregon. Do the Kesey brothers (or the family) still own the Springfield Creamery? Years ago, I got stoned with Chuck Kesey at a country fair outside of Eugene. I also used to go to a group with Nancy of Nancy's Yogurt fame. I also lived out on the Oregon coast at Newport and Astoria. The Shadow knows...
Yes,the shadow knows. I don't know about the creamery, but I'll find out. One of his sons is a promoter of music here. What brought you to Hawaii? --------(off to work) --later
Scratcho, Back in 1989, my wife and I came to Hawaii to help take care of some family members who had both health and legal problems. At the time, we'd been living in the Bay Area, and I thought I'd live there my whole life. However, we fell in love with Hawaii and have met many nice people. I've got some avocado and banana trees and some other things going on. I have many fond memories of Oregon, but it does rain there a lot. Take care!
