I don't know how they do it. But I get this image in my mind of two of them, each with its 8 arms hugging the noggin of the other, arms interdigitated, and just staying like that for a while, locked in a loving embrace with pulsating hugs. .
I think it would be wonderful once you got to know your fellow creature. On a first date, it would be a nightmare to deal with 8 arms!
