I talked the Dr. into giving me a prescription for Ativan due to some extra stress that is taking place in my life right now. What I am wondering is how much Ativan is it going to take to give me that calming feeling I am hearing Ativan provides. Im not looking to blackout or get high by any means, just want that nice relaxed feeling after a long day at work. I know some will say just have a few beers but I have been sober from alcohol for two years now, so thats not a possibility. I take an anti-depressant as well (anafranil) for gen anxiety, have been on it for 8 years now. The doc prescribed me .5 mg tablets. I am a pretty big guy, 6' 5" and 245 pounds, so im sure that will have something to do with how much its going to require to achieve that feeling of calmness. Thanks for you help.....
I am not a big fan of ativan. Usually i take klonopin. Ativan is a very fast acting medication like xanax but not as powerful. if you were prescribed the .5's take one and see how you feel. after about 45 min take another. I would think that anywhere from 2-4 is what your going to need to take without overdoing it.
take around 2-3 mg if you have no benzo tolerance. if its not strong enough, then have a few beers and smoke lots of weed.
ativan knocks me the fuck out about 2-3 hours after taking it, even 0.5mg. I get 0 recreational value from it, except when mixed with cannabis.
My gf gave me a few during her last visit. Even though I have Xanax and Clonopin at my disposal, I really enjoyed how the Ativan effected me. I wasn't looking for a buzz, or even sedation leading to a nap or spacing or anything. It basically just allowed me to chillax and enjoy my evening. I used it along with some mj, and yes the ativan effects don't last that long, but they were perfect for my particular situation. I can easily see how they can become addictive and fast, but for that point in time it was the perfect med for me.
Does anyone find a big difference between normal ativan or other normal benzos and their respective sublingual versions? I've been on various benzo scripts for a long time, mostly xanax .5 and 1mgs, as well as various hypnotics and other psychiatric drugs, but during various hospitalizations and mental breakdowns I was given a lot of sublingual ativan and I found it fun because of it's fast kick in time. So today I convinced my doctor to script me a few .5 sub lorazepams and, although I normally need 2mg+ of any benzo for much of a kick, 1 (and now 1.5)mg zub lorazepam feels very strong. i guess it's because of how fast it works, but does anyone else know much about subs vs. oral in benzos? I'm a lot more mellowed out and less drunk though than with my usual alprazolams. I can actually type properly. Most of my posts here are argleba arg xanbaxd aweqslome sort of things e: oh and I smoked pot too. I was talking about my initial experiences on just the benzo (and two beers), but along with around 450mg of codeine and a few spliffs, it is just fucking bliss.
hahaha one day a while ago i took 13mg of ativan (lorazepam) combined with downing a half bottle of vodka... needless to say I was barely able to talk, and I could barely remember anything that happened that day. with benzos you need to have equilibrium... don't take too much to the point where you can't remember shit, take a moderate/high amount that gets you pretty fucked and then just smoke weed on it. when you combine high doses of benzos with alcohol you're pretty much just asking for a disaster.
I have taken up to 6 .5mg ativan and felt nothing from it. Maybe a slight mellow feeling and a bit more relaxed, but nothing drastic.
