We all live amongst the cosmos, the continuous wonder baffling us from as far as our technology can span. Every piece of this majestic puzzle strung together through every bit of existing matter. It comprises everything around us; everything a term so broad in definition. A word improper for such a tremendous plane. The universe contains all we know; from our sun to the planets, matter, energy, and star-stuff, nebula's, and galaxies peppered in between. Present technology only allows us to see a pitiful amount of the observable universe. The walls of uncertainty closes us into our gaunt viewing horizons as we fumble in the dark to try and unmask what we can't see.
Nestled in the humble abode of the Milky Way galaxy, Earth lies. Surrounding our vast solar system and outer boundaries is an abundance of dark energy. A substance with such a strong roll in our very existence but with no clear, unified understanding. As if an energy thought to be accountable for accelerating the universe's expansion wasn't enigmatic enough, another covert force comes into play, dark matter. A force said to account for copious amounts of mass amidst our universe. Dark energy accounts for an estimated seventy-five percent of the universe, and dark matter twenty-five percent. Ninety-five percent of the universe we know is composed of something we don't fully understand, a meager five percent left for ourselves and sustainable normal matter.
The answers we seek lie at the end of an unreachable oblivion, remotely tucked light years away from our tenure. We are just subatomic particles synchronized with all that has ever been and will be. Whatever the case their is much to explore, Earth itself is only a diminutive, insignificant speck within the megacosm known as our universe. As Carl Sagan once said, "Who are we? We find that we live on an insignificant planet of a humdrum star lost in a galaxy tucked away in some forgotten corner of a universe in which there are far more galaxies than people." Furthermore, who's to say we are the only ones in this colossal place?
Most will just go through life living, without thought of what might lie beyond the clouds. Ignorant of the endless possibilities lurking in millions of light years beyond our views. How can one possibly fathom such an elegant universe? Intermittent with exquisite celestial object drifting deep into space. Our fundamental physics and fancy mathematical equations try to explain the complexity of our expanding horizons. Theories of parallel universes, worm holes and time travel emerge from properties fed to us from the vast universe. Evidently, which ever path you choose to follow be prepared for a mind vexing adventure into space and all the blemishes in it's fabric.
Nonetheless, the truth about our beginnings will never be revealed; at least not in our life time. For I believe in the universe not as just physical space, but an idea. The birth of the universe lead to the overall evolution of society today. We are all composed of star-stuff; compelled to wonder the charade of life. The universe in essence is simply the being of all; and throughout all the observations of the world around us, praying for bits and pieces of the past to reach us for perhaps a look into the future all I can conclude is this, it's been a long strange trip.
