    Ugh. Here's what I found at http://www.fda.gov/NewsEvents/Testimony/ucm115180.htm

As part of a longer-term strategy to address the current reports of abuse and misuse of OxyContin, Purdue Pharma has informed FDA that the company is working to reformulate OxyContin. The reformulation would add an opioid antagonist that would counteract the effects of oxycodone, the active ingredient in OxyContin, if the OxyContin tablet were crushed into a powder and injected or snorted. FDA is working actively with Purdue Pharma to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of such a reformulated product. It must be noted that such a reformulation is not a simple task and it could be several years before any new combination product is developed, tested in clinical trials, and approved by FDA.

Sounds pretty ridiculous to me. Might as well just remove OC from the market altogether and replace it with some other synthetic/semi-synthetic opiate. Stupidity.

OK, so...that last post was from 2009. This one is from April 2010:

"The reformulated product is designed to be harder to crush and more difficult to dissolve. The active ingredient is designed to form into a gel when dissolved in liquid, making it harder to inject or inhale through the nose. The company said the new version, which it will begin shipping in the third quarter, should slow the release of the active ingredient in the product. It will stop selling the existing tablets after shipments of the new version begin.
Purdue Pharma has said it would stop making the current version of OxyContin and replace all doses with the reformulated version."

Bad news for snorters/injectors of the drug. Here's the link for the full story:

so much for self titration, pop the whole thing. Sure it might be good for their image but it might actually increase ODs.
