I didn't know Prarie Wind was `05 and I had no idea Dylan released an Album in `05 either... and The Rolling Stones. and I didn't even know Ringo Starr had a solo career! WOW!
I think Pat Metheny Group's 'The Way Up' is really good. 'Haps the best album of 2005? Those guys can make trickier music seem effortless and enjoyable. Fresh blue sound too.
this list is SAD how can you have the best albums and NOT mention The Mars Volta ATLEAST in the top 10 if not the top five?
People people! The few artists left around to make even remotely good music are hardly enough to fill a top 20 list, much less 100!
To see the critics choices of best albums of 2005 (or any year, pretty much) go here: http://www.acclaimedmusic.net/ Scroll down the box on the left to choose a year, or a decade, and choose between best albums and best songs. Or click "artist lists" to see the top 1000 rated artists, or the top 100 of each decade. Those lists are compiled from all those other lists that appear in magazines etc - click on "critics lists" to see how many there are
Great list...love Vetiver, White Stripes, Dylan , Babyshambles, Neil Young to name a few... so many I've not heard of to be checking out... thanks for doing that...must've taken ages! Ben Fuzz
Secret Garden better than Beck ... what's this ! it's completely surreal ! Ok i'm not the ultimate fan of Guerro ... his previous lp "Sea Change" was much better ...it was a classic... + We should no count live album recorded in 1970... it's not fair... + Echo & the Bunnymen "Siberia" deserve a much better place... But to be honnest i expected a worst chart selection
Back in 2005, I would've said: Kreator - Enemy of God M.I.A. - Arular Garbage - Bleed Like Me Gorillaz - Demon Days Common - Be Sleater-Kinney - The Woods Dropkick Murphys - The Warrior's Code Paramore - All We Know is Falling Disturbed - Ten Thousand Fists Metric - Live It Out Franz Ferdinand - You Could Have it So Much Better Exodus - Shovel Headed Kill Machine Soulfly - Dark Ages The Veronicas - The Secret Life of... Annihilator - Schizo Deluxe Almost 20 years later, and Sleater-Kinney's album is probably the only one I listen to with any regularity anymore.
