I highly support buying original LPs and vinyls at your local record store BUT what happens if you don't have one in your town or your record store is only equipped with few lps of local pop singer from mid 60s? Then you have to scratch through ebays and stuff to get to that shiny lp you always wanted. Well this is easiest way to check out that rare record you always want to hear but never had chance to do so, or you're only checking out for some good underground band that never got famous but have everything in their sound to become one. Check out this few blogs full of good old groovy music and thank God for internet, otherwise it would be so much more harder to find some undiscovered bands. Veneos Do Rock - This is one of the best blogs for rare psych/prog/blues music, chack out that N.S.U band on the second page, they're superawesome! Also, get your hand on the Dry Ice album because their songs are REALLY rare (onyl 300 albums released) and they're awesome - check this one out ( Dry Ice - mary is alone ) Psychedelic Obscurities Always Blues Society Music Of 1970 Garage Music If there is similiar or same thread as mine, be free to delete this. So, relax, download some albums, roll some green beauty and enjoy! :sifone: eace: Peace!
I can see why you like collecting LP's but what's the use of supporting to buy rare 60's albums? Better to support buying newer artists' albums. Anyway, I like buying LP's as well. Was looking in a groovy secondhand record store in my town and found an original copy of Are you experienced for €70... I'd rather buy the 20 euro rerelease then
I always had big pleasure to walk out of record store with few LPs of some never-heard band, I know it's not much of "support" to the band, because they broke up 40 years ago, but I have feeling I support rock and roll in the true, 60s way. I would support new artists' albums if the music is good and worth of support. I don't say today's music sucks, but compared to 60s and 70s it's like big step backward in evolution of music. Original copy of Jimi's first album is worth every penny . I know it's lot cheaper to buy rerelease and enjoy same music, but to me, that original copy have spirit that rerelase just doesn't have.
I'm glad I don't have that problem cause the newer LP can only sound better But I like buying second hand LP's as well so it's all good  Edit: I'm not OK saying myself today's music is a big step backward nowadays. Today's music is a lot of different music overall, it can't be judged as a whole. Perhaps you just haven't heard the particular stuff of today that does it for you. I don't run into my fav music on the street or when I hear the big radio stations, but some of it is music of today for real.
Well, old LPs can sound equally good if they're mint. But they are way expensive then I meant it in the "hot music right now" way. I know that there's some great jazz, blues, rock and roll bands that play now at this moment, but I mean that the music that keep the music industry machine alive is really stupid, absurd, cheap and without music values. I know that Morrison screamed "I'm your backdoor man!", but then, lyrics weren't so important to make whole song (altought his lyrics was beautiful in most songs), every part of song was so beautiful and unique, and when blend in one piece, it was just brilliant and there were much more improvisations and live concerts that made 60s music so spicy and delicious. I see we understood each other, big stations won't play Hendrix or Floyd, but there will always be some good band that will Peace

Hey Dzedai, just saying I appreciate the site links you posted March 2010...only just found it as only been around the forum for a few weeks and it's a big place... You may already have a copy but there is a book that you may like to get... 'Fuzz, Acid and Flowers Revisited - A comprehensive guide to American Garage Psychedelic and Hippie Rock (1964 - 1975)' by Vernon Johnson... First published in 2004 by Borderline Productions. My copy is well thumbed as I like to find out a little more about some bands I discover before I make a purchase.. or to check out info on rare 45's like you get on the various compilations that appear. Incredibly detailed and informative it has never let me down. I HIGHLY RECOMEND THIS BOOK TO ANY PSYCHEDELIC & GARAGE GROUP MEMBERS Peace & fuzz' Ben Fuzz.
The main reason I to treak down original vinyl releases is because re-issues alot of the time are remastered and remixed before pressing so you dont get the vibe of the people who did that first time around...A great original to track down and it took me years n years is the orig mono Sgt Pepper vinyl..there's this great phazing effect on Lucy in the sky..that aint on your re-issues + Pauls backing vocals seem to get louder and louder as years go by..I wouldn't even wipe my butt on a Beatles re-trash issue..and I won't even get started on how appalling cd's sound..and they skip too so Im up for a bit of background crackle on an old vinyl anyday..kinda cozy that sound as it's like the sound of a crackling fire.. I do get the occasional cd tho as vinyls can be v pricey these days...Big Star box set recently...great stuff http://www.amazon.co.uk/Keep-Eye-Sky-Big-Star/dp/B002BFO8HS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1279449016&sr=1-1"]Keep An Eye on the Sky: Big Star: Amazon.co.uk: Music love peace n fuzz Ben Fuzz
