I've got two computers at home. I'm hooked up to the internet on my pc, while the other one(my father's pc) stays disconnected. If he wants to use the net, I unplugged my modem, walked it over to his pc, plugged it in, and he was off. This worked fine, because he only went online about twice a month, but due to some certain circumstances, he has to use it a bit more often. So here's my question: Can I just buy a seperate modem for his pc, or do I have to share the connection through a router? I figured I could have my modem and his going strait to the net, and turn off whichever modem no one is on. That's essentially what I'm doing now anyways, except I won't have to move my modem back and forth.
Are you talking about dial-up or what? Almost ALL pc's from stores have a modem built in. It sounds like you want the two machines networked. Do you plan to be able to share files also, or just the Internet connection?
broadband. He gave my the ok to set up a wireless network this morning, so I'm gonna go ahead and just do that. Thanks for the help though.
