Hes like 16 in dog years, blind and is basically walking around like a ancient push cart. I feel sad for him, he was a great one. I think tommorow we bring him to the vet and he gets the shot. Everybody is crying here about it, am i the only one who looks at it like it never happens?
puppy my dog is getting pretty old, his back legs don't work like they used to i think he's still got a solid 2-3 years left though. i'm sorry to hear about your pooch
sorry to here that .. i have to do the same.. she has alot of cancer, one huuuuuge lump probably around the size of 3/4 of an apple on her belly .. so hard tho.... have her 13 years
Mine is getting there too . . . will miss my buddy. Sorry allgood, hope it goes ok and be there for your family man.
yeah that is sad. my last dog my parents put down with out telling me, for fear i would be too upset. At least you know and can cherish what little time you have left. even in his misery give him some love, it will help him in the departure from this life. energy to you and your dog
Sorry to continue the sadness, my dog's not doing so hot either. His tore his left ACL a couple of years ago and since we didn't have money for the surgery to reconnect his muscle his health has only been going downhill since. I'm pretty sure my dog has similar cancer of the stomach, and is going to the vet very soon to see what, if anything, they can do. It's been the best 9 years of my life though and I can't even imagine what it would have been like without my puppy
this thread is making me think about when i had to put my family dog down about 4 years ago..she was a black lab and had various lumps on her hips and whatnot, she was getting too old.. that day sucked
Poor doggy I hate when things like that have to happen!! I had a dog when I was younger who was my besttt friend. When I was a baby, he was a puppy, andwe pretty much grew up together. When I was 15, he was also 15 (in people years) and was just too bad to go on anymore. He had bad arthritis and could barely walk without my dad's help. We had to put him down. I still remember that day, it was saddd! Give him as much love as you can before you take him
well eventually get another dog.... i love dogs bro. we got an 11 year olf and a 7 month. wish u best of luck.
i actually told my parents to not tell me when they have to put my dog down. i'll be at college 3.5 hours away, so telling me is only going to upset me since it's not like i have a car to drive home to visit or anything. i'll find out when i come home for break and buddy just isn't there anymore ... but hopefully they will have gotten a new puppy by when one door closes another one opens!
I remember one day in the winter our old Border Colli followed me when I was grabbing some firewood and she did the most peculiar thing. She dug out a cove from snow under a tree and made herself comfortable. I was done with the wood so I called her and she just did not want to come. She gave me this look as to tell me it was her time. I went inside and told my mom. My mom tried for a good hour to get her to come and she finally did. I knew it was her time so I told my family and a month later we took her to the vet and she went to sleep. Through the whole process she was reassuring me that it was time and she was ready. It was beautiful, our last moments brought so much understanding and the last words we shared was "thank you". Spend this little precious time with your dog, you'll both appreciate it
Went through the same thing 5 years ago. After a several weeks of mourning, I realized I was focusing on what I had lost, not so much what I loved and enjoyed for the previous 11 years. A couple of months later, I got another Yellow Lab. But I still miss my first one.
my buddy recently put his dog down.. 12yo... was blind.. basically down to skin and bones... had diabetes... he was a mess...
Sorry to hear about your dog I had to put one of my cats down a few years ago...had him for 17 years. I still miss that little guy.
Sorry to hear that, allgood My dog probably hasn't got too much longer. He's 14. He's pretty healthy, and still acts like a puppy, but he's starting to move more slowly and doesn't have as much energy as he used to. He's also getting really twitchy and jumpy at everything. It sucks to know that I'm gonna be on the other side of the world when he dies
16 in dog years?! So he's just over two and losing vision? Sorry dawg....no pun intended. Ok, maybe a little. I feel for you man. My dog is 9 or so now. I'm shipping him off to my mom once it's around his time. I couldn't bare it. She went to die alone (Donnie Darko)
