I have been given an assignment as part of my conditions in youth court. I am to write a 2 page opinion based paper on the topic to be handed in tomorrow.

The day I was sentanced, the judge finished sentancing me a probation order that I could serve concurrantly with one I was already serving in penance to a seperate matter, complementing me and stating her faith in my ability to contribute to the community. I responded by thanking her for her insight, fairness, paying homage to her wisdom, and understanding ect, and asking her to please consider my question honestly without any of the external influences of politics, society, pressures to make her have a conformist view of things what she thought of recreational marijuana use. I got a little sporadic laughter, and even a chuckle hidden in the honourable judge's hand. She then proceeded to assign me this paper. Any help?

She gave me this information to get me started

It's a paper called Cannabis use and mental health in young people: cohort study by 6 people including George C Patton.

What are you asking us to help you with?

I briefly read over it but its a longitudinal study showing a positive correlation between cannabis use and teenage development. Include some of the statistics and that females seemed to be at higher risk of depression after cannabis use and you should be good to go.

Some flaws in the study include the limited demographic and does not say whether these teens were co-using any other drugs too. That goes for recreational ones like alcohol and cocaine and prescription drugs like anti-depressants or mood stabalizers. (don't say Tylenol or advil) that won't be taken seriously. Any other questions you may have you're going to have to be more specific.

I'm looking for people to volunteer their opinions and to perhaps spark debate. How do you think pot smoking effects development? Anyone have a bias for or against cannabis smoking? Why? Are there perhaps both positive and negative effects? While nobody is about to stand up and say Mary is the root of all evil, there are people who call it a gateway drug, people that consider it to be a heal-all or wonderdrug, what different constructive or positive(sleeping, eating, stemming violence/mood enhancement, creative applications, medicating mental illness/ painkilling properties.) or more destructive or negative factors(affecting mental health, rate of overall success, emotional responces?, fertility, or relationship problems...)I am looking for thoughts, experiences, stories, ect. that help me come to wise and enlightened thought or alternatively comic relief.
