I'm not disagreeing with what you said, but both Syd and Brian also had family and personal histories of mental illness long before psychedelics. Then Brian was being fed TONS of meds by his personal "doctor" who was stealing him blind for years. But yeah lay off everything for a while. I have a hard time believing you are that concerned about it when you also posted this the other day;
lol Little mushrooms are all that's needed! Everything else is just bragging. Don't compromise the magic with synthesized solutions! If you love yourselves you will make my dose the most! lol Love, The Mushroom King.
A very valid point of contention and one I was hoping was brought up. I can't speak for Brian Wilson since I don't know his story as well, although I know its somewhat similiar but from what I know of schizophrenia and other psychotic mental disorders its a very chicken or the egg type situation. Its the nature of schizophrenic symptoms to truly manifest in someones teens or 20's and I know Syd Barrett was not going catatonic on stage when Pink Floyd initially started out. People with psychotic mental disorders tend to have a higher rate of drug use then the general population so its really hard even today to tell if the drugs lead to and cause some of the symptoms of the illness or the illness leads to the drug use. My guess would be its a little of both in that for many its almost a way to self medicate but in turn exacerbates some symptoms. I think taking more hallucinogens is not the right way to go if you are experiencing hppd effects or any other troubling effects like paranoia or depersonalization/derealization. I have slight visual disturbances myself but not to a degree they worry me, but I'm sure the symptoms can get much worse.
Given how very little is really known about schizophrenia and how it is triggered, and how much there is still to learn about LSD and it's mode of function, LSD use could very well "flip the switch" of schizophrenia in a person who is already predisposed to it. A little excerpt pulled from wikipedia about Brian Wilson. "By 1982 Eugene Landy was once more called into action, and a more radical program was undertaken to try to restore Brian to health. This involved firing him from The Beach Boys, isolating him from his family on Hawaii, and putting him onto a rigorous diet and health regimen. This, coupled with long, extreme counseling sessions, and bringing Brian back to reality. He lost a tremendous amount of weight, was certainly healthier and more conversant than previously, but he was also under a strict level of control by Landy. Brian's recovery continued as he joined the band on stage in Live Aid in 1985, and recorded the album The Beach Boys with the group. Dr. Landy provided a Svengali-like environment for Wilson, controlling his every movement in his life, including his musical direction. Landy's misconduct would eventually lead to the loss of his psychologist license, as well as a court-ordered removal and restraining order from Wilson. Some years later, during his second marriage, Wilson was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, bipolar type which supposedly caused him to hear voices in his head. By 1989 the rumor was that Brian either had a stroke or had abused too many drugs and was permanently "fried". One biographer reported that the actual problem was that Wilson, who had been prescribed antipsychotic medicine by Landy since 1983, had developed tardive dyskinesia, a neurological condition marked by involuntary, repetitive movements, that develops in about 20% of patients treated with antipsychotic drugs for a long period of time. Wilson's drug regimen has now been reduced to a mild combination of antidepressants, and he has resumed recording and performing."
I love my perpetual closed and open eye visuals, or hppd. Closed eye they have their own reality, like a singularity that projects a spiral galaxy, infinity symbol, the heart chakra of a humanoid, also serving as the intersection of two dualistic unending lines,etc. Open eye they are similar to OP's: fields, waves, patterns. Sometimes with open eyes bigger things happen like my vision before me is a curtain that parts for a moment, not revealing anything except that it's a curtain. According to my research (forgive the absence of sources), there is no harm with hppd except in the reaction of the experiencer. If it causes anxiety, then the anxiety, not the hppd, should be addressed. It could also be considered a premature stimulation of the third eye or sixth chakra. I find meditation to be the best way to accomodate whatever phenomenon it is. Not to resist it or worry about it but to allow and imbibe it. Imo it's a valuable gift.
is that the tone of your personality in real life? .. i feel what was said is a valid idea to input into the conversation

yeah, and passive aggression is a prime indicator of that.. all i am saying is that some people are more likely to get "hppd" i know and have heard of a lot people that get CEVs from smoking pot-- years before any psychedelic use.. i think the two kinds of visuals are linked.
ah, misunderstood post. my opinion on this is for someone who took LSD or other drugs to trip balls, just enjoy it. It'll go away if you want them to and you stop drug use for a while. Otherwise, use your now somewhat abstract mind and create and interesting spin on your day to day life.
Yeah, and sarcasm is no better my friend. You should lighten up. Also, pot is a mild psychedelic in it's own right; CEVs from smoking pot isn't really that unheard of.
Definitely. Even without the CEV's, or even OEV's, marijuana induces a very psychedelic state-of-mind.
Man I always hate when I've been tripping for like 15 hours and I just get tired of it, I feel like losing my mind.
Isnt it great? Thats definatly not bullshit, ive heard stories online about people enjoying it. Urban legands if you may.
I always thought I'd love to try semi-tripping in my day to day life. I wonder what types of thought processes and realizations I'd have. How differently I'd live my life, etc. So I say just enjoy it.
