Well, not all hymen bleed when they break. I've been with virgins whose didn't. They can also break in a number of other ways besides penetration. As for the odor I have no idea. You said you went to visit her. I'm assuming your not near one another then. Maybe there is something she's not telling you.
Get her on antibiotics. Antibiotics might give her a yeast infection but thats easily fixed with over the counter drugs. It will go away.

It probably is BV. A lot of things other than sex can change your smell. But, if it's relaly strong it's probably BV. Why has she not had a pap smear?! Tell her to get on that right away. You are supposed to have them even if you are a virgin.
