i agree, it's a fascinating field and there's a LOT to learn i didn't take it formally when i was in undergrad but i read
I think intro to neuropsych is the best too. I took a more advanced course on physiological psych and it was mostly memorizing pathways in the brain, not fun. intro is where you learn the basics and get to have all the thought provocations without being bogged down by a boiling sea of details.
Intro to neuropsych Issues in Philosophy of Mind Issues in Crime Prevention Sociology of Punishment Way awesome classes to choose from.
Thanks all for your help this is what i decided on (scheduling was a big factor) : Minds and Machines (always loved the AI angle of consciousness inquiry) Philosophy of Language (have you seen my screen name ololol) Intro to Buddhism (for easy grade and it's close to my heart) Issues in Crime Prevention Sociology of Punishment (last two are not my passion but whatever.) wish me luck in my last year i have much to look forward to when it's over
I'm sure you will do great. Learning new stuff is always great and profitable. One of my daughters will also be graduating in 2011. She is getting a BA in Criminal Justice. She wants to go into law enforcement and already has been working for the PD for 3 years now. When she graduates she goes right into the academy and will start out at $20,000 more a year than normal thanks to the degree. Not to mention fast track to detective, which is her goal at this point. So I know vicariously what you are up against, but you'll pull it off. no doubt.
Good luck. I think I would choose sociology of punishment just to challenge the status quo. I would have also chosen philosophy of language. I would have chosen Arabic to stretch.
