I'm used to dating American women, and to speak honestly, I compare that to scraping at the bottom of the human barrel. If you are not dealing with a psycho, you are dealing with a stalker. If none of the above, their whole family, and all friends are racists. They just seem to be angry, terrible people who want to bring you down with them. I have had ENOUGH! When I move to NZ, and look for a Maori woman, should I expect the same thing?
lol. Realistically you can probably expect this within any culture. A lot is probably based on expectations and the kind of energy you surround yourself with. There really isn't a clear cut answer. Definately wouldn't suggest adopting that attitude though.
Aotearoa proudly displays evidence of its Maori culture, whether it be the paintings at the airport, or non-Maori performing the haka. While relationships between Maori and non-Maori are congenial on a day-to-day level, and friendships and intermarriages between the two communities are common, tensions lie beneath the surface, and inequality between the communities remains a persistent problem.
Today on independence day in the usa i got my first glimpse of the pacific ocean. I got a chance to wade in it a little bit, so I was in the same ocean as the wonderful Kiwis! Maybe my Maori Queen was in the ocean at the same time as it was in the mid 60's (around 17c ) in NZ. Kiwis are amazing people!
If you romanticize Maori women too much without ever having been with one, you may be setting yourself up for disappointment. All people are the same. They want love and kindness and understanding.
A lot of maori people try and act like african americans, so I dont think there will be too much of a culture barrier, if thats what you are worried about. Also you should know there are heaps of pacific island people here too (samoans, tongans etc), who are similar to maori in appearance, but may act differently.
