Ok so I already wrote about my date with Lucy behind half of a Shiva, and I had a hit and a half left over. Was going to take it all, but ended up giving the other half to a friend who also had not had a date with the nice lady in a long time. He also agreed that it was mighty fine and potent. That left me with one hit of this strong Shiva.

I was going to go on a planned journey with Lucy, but it didn't work out that way.

July 4th and my wife has to work an event at a local Naval Base from 1-9pm,
My 3 girls are going to go over to a friends for barbecue and are spending the night. So I figure, well I have the house to myself for the next 6-8 hours, why not spend the day with Lucy?

I suck all the life out of that 1/4" square of bliss at about 1:30, by 2:30 I'm starting to really feel it, but decide too "boost" the day with a little cactus potion. So I cut about 24" of San Pedro, prep it and start slowly brewing some tea. I figure to drink it about 4pm for an all night journey. Just as I get my potion brewing, the front door opens up and it's my stepson who is supposed to be with my wife. I'm confused and ask "what's up?"
He tells me "Oh, I'm going to the beach and mom will call you when she's done. The cars out front."

What, I have to pick her up!?
So here I am, coming up very strong on this potent dose of Lucy, cactus brewing and find out I have to drive!!!

Of course the cactus potion just goes into the freezer and I decide I really should not smoke the nice bud I have for the occasion, and start stressing over the fact that I have to drive in about 6 hours.

I tried to relax and listen to some music, The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, but can't shake the "I have to drive!" thoughts out of my head. The rest of the afternoon was spent in tension about driving because I was VERY VERY psychedelisized at the moment and there was no indication of it lessening, actually the opposite.

Funny I can feel the first tingles of LSD within minutes, but it usually takes me 90 minutes -2 hours before I have completely "settled in" when on psychedelics.

So I settle in and decide to watch the movie "Kick Ass" Great movie, with or without psychic assistance.
This may sound a little pedo, but I LOVE HIT GIRL!

The whole time looking at the clock and thinking "gotta drive in 5 hours, 4 hours, 3 hours, you get the idea.

Then the wife calls to inform me that she will be done an hour earlier than she thought!

So I get a shower to try and "sober" up a little, doesn't work for LSD by the way. As I go and get in the car, I think I am glad that I am well versed in functioning in this psychedelic realm and find that driving is a lot easier than anticipated. I guess muscle memory takes over and you just do it. Also being a good driver, 1 moving violation, 1 accident in 33 years of driving, helps.

I get to the street to go pick her up and it's a frigging' parking lot of cars trying to get on the base for the fireworks show in an hour. Police, civilian and military are all over the place. I look down and notice that my stepson in his grand wisdom has left me the car with no cash and NO GAS!!!
So here I am, stuck on some little road with hundreds of other cars going nowhere, police all over the place, high as a kite on probably 200+ugs of good LSD in a car about to run out of gas! Even if I tried, I wouldn't have been able to get out of there to get gas.

Well I managed to get the little woman and make it back home without running out of gas. I sit down and take a couple of hits of the bud I had and relaxed back into a proper LSD state of mind. I went out back as fireworks were going off all around the neighborhood. I close my eyes and soaked in all the sounds. The sound scape is fantastic as each explosion and POP creates a show in my minds eye. I stayed out there for about 45 minutes, enjoying the sounds and sights of the firework laden sky.

Then the wife tells me she has to go shopping for an event the following morning. So it's back out to the car and off to the store. Shopping done we get home and end up having some wild monkey sex for a couple of hours. (anyone else get the "Viagra" effect from psychedelics?)

All in all it wasn't a "bad" trip, more like a wasted one as I could not shake the thoughts of impending responsibility for the majority of the trip.
I will say that one of those Shiva blotters is hella potent, and if I wasn't really comfortable with psychedelics I would not have driven.

I read in an interview with A.S Owsley that he no longer gets visual effects from LSD, but just the headspace. I find that is becoming my experience as well. The visual circus isn't as predominate in my trips anymore, but the headspace and psychedelic perspective seems to be amplified more so than it used to be. I still do experience the patterns and CEV's and brightened colors and all, but I can also choose to "ignore" those effects if I desire and be able to do things such as drive.
Though I am glad I had a good 6 hours before I did, if I had to drive during the first four hours, I'm not so sure how I would have done it.

No far reaching profound insights this time, but did gain a few insights into how and why I react to certain situations in certain ways. I overstressed about having to drive and did not allow myself to fully enjoy my day with Lucy.
plus I really wanted to try the lucy-cactus combo.:(

    Oh well, maybe again sometime.;)

Man PB that shit is no joke. I would have FREAKED if i had to drive on that hit hahaha. surrounded by LE, no gas, no money . . . omg. too much.

LSD + Cactus! I like how you roll. Still haven't tried the cactus but might try some mescaline soon. And it usually takes me about 2 hours to really really feel like im "in" an LSD trip, and not just feeling a bunch of successively stronger "something's up" sensations. Though with the Shiva I had my first alert in about 10 seconds and was having a hard time walking, talking, and thinking about 30 minutes into it.

The greater visual effects come with higher doses I find. Lower it's much more likely to be all mental/affective. Higher doses is when your other senses catch up with the show. Showering on LSD makes me trip MUCH harder if anything!

I wonder how your friend will like it :)

I don't think any of us have seen the last of the Shiva.

I was freaking out, a lot, until I actually got in the car and started driving, then I realized that all my concern was for nothing. It was actually easier then driving on strong weed for me. I just didn't allow myself to get distracted as can happen so easily on LSD. I would not recommend it though, there were a couple of times when my depth perception wasn't accurate and required a rapid application of the brakes though.
Only if you are VERY familier and comfortable with the psychedelic state and able to differentiate between drug effects and "normal" elements in the enviroment PLUS an excellent driver would I attempt it. Like I said, I at least have 33 years of driving experience under my belt with only 2 incidents. That helped give me confidence.
I was more freaked about hitting a random check point that the police put up on such "drinking" holidays. If a cop looked me in the eye it would have been over. Whenever I am frying hard my pupils go all funky, one gets huge and the other gets tiny, and they switch back and forth! Totally blew my mind the first time I noticed it happen. I look as if I just had a stroke or some other brain injury.

Yeah, I really wanted to try the combo. Oh well maybe in the future. I saved all the fixin's and will harvest some more SP and add to it. SP is fairly easy to get in So.Cal. So I'm sure that I will be able to try the combo at some time.
    The visual effects were present and relatively strong, it's just interesting as I'm sure some of you know, that when experienced with psychedelics and not on a sit the fuck down dosage, that they can be controlled. It also helps if you are able to understand what elements in your environment are giving rise to the visuals. For example;
One time I was frying pretty hard on some liquid and was tripping out over how the patterns on the textured ceiling would shift and change and my mood would also shift with them. Then I realized that the drapes were slowly moving in the breeze and would change the lighting in the room, change in lighting=change in the shadows cast by the texturing and apparent lightness and darkness of the resulting patterns and if they became darker so did my mood.

He loved it and agreed they were potent and clean:D
I certainly am hopefull of seeing more this summer.

Almost all my lsd trips have consisted of that background nagging feeling of responsibility....ALWAYS being the host there would be 4 slightly lazy/inconsiderate tripping/stoned teenagers in my house, asking me for drinks, food, wheres the washroom, ect. and me being a stupidly sensitive to lsd am always in trances, confused at these questions, always anticipating the next thing i gotta do for someone that interupts my trip.

one trip there was a rediculous rain/hail storm in the middle of a sticky hot june day, probably 2 days of rain in 20 minutes (and thats NOT an exaggeration, every single car on the road was stopped, the entire like 100KM sq area had a 2-3 cm layer of hail....craaazy shit, and we were outside for all of it. now Im peaking having to clothe/dry and help a bunch of tripping soon to be hypothermic kids while im soaked myself XD

Yeah.... A whole day off (impossible?) probably would have been better. I'm glad you were calm enough to handle it all. I personally think I could have still enjoyed the 6 hours I had... knowing I've got two options:

    a) Enjoy the 6 hours, then start worrying

    or

    b) Worry for 6 hours, and then most likely find out it's do-able.

I give you a B to B+! An A- if you would have been able to submit your mind into tripping and enjoying anyways. :p

Fuck! If I knew this was going to be on the final I would have taken better notes.

So in your estimation what would one have to do in that situation to earn an A+ ?
I think I earned an A+ by being able to control it enough to be able to function fine given that those Shiva blotters are fucking potent, 200-250ugs.

Trust me I did try to enjoy the day, and did in a sense.
It just kept coming back that I had to sober up and be responsible when I had planned on NO responsibilities for the next 24 hours.
Plans were all good, but that damn monkeywrench got thrown into the works and fucked things up. That is what sent my thoughts into a tailspin.

It's my damn sons fault! He didn't want to hassle taking my car back over to my wife, so he just dropped it off at the house and had a friend pick him up.
But thats typical for him. Damn kids!

I suppose a million things did go wrong -- annoying, indeed.

Let's see... an A+ would be if you took the things going not-as-planned as a manner of life, that things don't come out as planned and all you can do is take it all with a smile and handle it the best you can.... then ride that acid driven mentality into your eventual success (safety-wise) of the night! :p Sounds kind of irresponsible and hippy-ish, don't it? lol.

On paper though, with your experience, maturity and age, haven tripped on the same stuff a week prior, and it being 1.5 hits I would have guessed you could have safely made the drive.

I will say the TR probably downplays how much you were really tripping, and I wasn't there, so I bump your grade up to a 90, with the possibility for extra credit via redemption trip awarded. :)

    hehe :p

Well, in a sense I did take the turn of events in stride, I just could NOT shake the thought "loop" that got stuck in my cranium. Any one who has any amount of experience will understand that. That just changed the whole direction and intent of my trip. Actually the biggest concern I had was that the damn police set up mandatory stops all over my area on holidays, and I DID NOT want to run into one of those. As far as my ability to drive safely, never doubted myself in that respect.

Yes, although no profound revelations found their way to me, I was VERY VERY high and at 3 hours in had to lay down as walking required way too much effort and control. By the time I had to drive the "rushes" had subsided and I was able to function rather well, but I was still "tripping balls" as you youngsters like to say.:p

Isn't it interesting how psychedelics, especially LSD, hits in waves of severe intoxication interspersed with periods of normalcy.

If I'm reading this correctly I love that feeling. I'm sitting there and I'm saying to myself, aww it's dying off, and then WHAM, I'm back on my rocket ship lol.

The other night my brother came home again, and I was like I'm completely fine I don't need to tell him or worry about him knowing, and then almost randomly I was completely out of it again. lol what a great feeling.

That sounds like a hell of a trip, good times. I usually have to up the dosage to get really good visual. Any trip is always fun, getting a lot of colors is always a bonus for me.
