Question! Final Evaporation Step in Extraction

SWIM is evaporating their final product, and over time there has been a build-up of what appears to be a layer of dust on the top. Is this normal? Is there anything that should be done about it?

where is it? is it exposed open, outside dust will gather on any liquid over time..

 

Lets see a picture. I would have freeze precipitated, decanted, and then dried out

 

how long has it been evaporating? to the untrained eye a very saturated solution that hasn't been stirred could look like it has a layer of dust on top. or like you said...it could be dust.

I would personally get it out using RO water and a seperatory funnel before all the naptha dries up. if you wanted to make a seperatory funnel out of a gatorade bottle I could assist otherwise I'm not to sure how to seperate the dust, sorry.

but like DK said freeze precip, decant and fan/air drying is the way to get cleaner spice faster than just air/fan drying

 

I don't have access to a camera right now so i got this picture online and added the white spots on it. It looks similar to this...just more spots. If you blow on it the dust moves around on the surface of the water obviously. So i'm thinking there might be a way to strain it out but I'm not sure. The experiment seems to have gone perfect up to this point so I hope it isn't fucked up now on the very last step. I wasn't aware of a freezing method.. =(

any suggestions?

p.s. Once evaporated and the crystals are left on the bottom of the baking dish...i mean, dust burns...so would it still be smokable? lol

It's been evaporating for about a week, and half of it has evaporated. So it should be completely finished in another week or so.

All the naphtha was sucked into the turkey baster and thrown out? I hope I didn't dispose of the wrong material? Naphtha floats to the top of the jar and gets all that murkey gross shit floating in it. Please don't tell me that was the DMT. Isn't that the unwanted chemicals, and you dispose of it to evaporate the rest?

i've been doing this fuckin experiment for so long ugh i feel like an idiot. i got my shit off bouncing bear so i can't even get any more. Anyone know another site? I was gonna order some san pedro too but shamansgarden.com doesn't have either and i don't know any other reliable sites.

 

ooooo damn man that sucks. sorry to say but you fucked up. with either an a/b or stb extraction once you get to the point of evaporation, you will be evaporating the naptha not the basic solution with the bark in it.
you can still add some more basic water(filling it to however much was in the container originally) and naptha to the mixture you have & repeat the steps from your tek from that point(keeping the naptha to evaporrate this time!) to still salvage some dmt. a lot of the deem has probably been removed by the first pull where you discarded the naptha. a lot of dmt has also probably been oxidized into dmt-n-oxide (a yellow oil that won't crsytalize @ room temp) since it's been sitting in the basic solution so long. this is still quite smokable and more potent by weight but its much harsher and some say has different subjective effects.

 

That really really burns my heart!
