    This guy is single,

    unemployed,

living with his mother and fourth stepdad,

likes to play videogames on saturday night

    and craps on the sidewalk.

lol, after about 30 comments on his video he had enough and decided to disable comments. fortunately for us, everyone thinks he's some troll with aspergers who needs to mind his own business.

This man should be admired for the genuine concern he is expressing for that little girl as well as her father. Given the conditions he describes, it is certainly advisable to don appropriate footwear, protecting against the blood, spit, diseases, ringworm and other bad things that lie on the ground.

I can only imagine the shock and horror he experienced when he saw the two barefooters on the street. So much so, he immediately went home to make that YouTube video. By so doing, he was also looking out for ALL of us. Let us offer him thanks and gratitude for his concern. For those of you who criticize him, that is your right. But consider this: Maybe he works in a footwear related job. From the person who designs the shoe/sneaker/flip flop/stiletto. They who manufacture the shoe, shoebox, shoe horn, socks, shoe laces all have families to feed and support. Also those who sell shoes. There is more than one side to every opinion.

I don't know if the above post is sarcasm or what but the guy is clearly warped out of his mind. Blood and shit and piss on sidewalks?! What country is he living in where this is actually a legitimate concern? It's actually a pretty sad catch-22 that in any country where conditions like that are present they will have such a low standard of living that barefootedness is common and this germophobic emo freakshow wouldn't be sent into such shock that he had to rush home and tell everyone on the internet about the horrible thing he just saw.
I shouldn't be so hard on him, he probably has problems relating to people. Man some people set me off, though

Just a couple of sightings last night and this morning, both minors.

First one was last night around 8:30 when I was taking a walk through my neighborhood. I was almost home when I spotted my neighbor's (who lives in the house behind mine) young son (about 4 or 5 years old) riding his scooter on the sidewalk barefoot. His mom was sitting on the front porch keeping an eye on him. :)

Second one this morning was when I was on my way to the grocery store. I was stopped at a stoplight when I spotted a boy about 9 or 10 years old who lived in a house on the corner go outside his front door to get the mail from his mailbox and he was barefoot. Since today is Saturday and school is out for the summer, he probably just got out of bed. :coffee:

On the rope swing and to watch firworks tonight.

I think the fear that I have about being more barefoot is that people think feet are disgusting. Not necessarily that the ground will contaminate your feet, but that your feet will contaminate the ground. Have y'all got this from people before?

Yes, but its their problem not yours. Keep it up, ignore everyone (unless you run across another barefooter), and look down at where you are going (which helps with the ignore thing). The ground probably won't care if you step on it with dirty feet.

Yesterday (Sat) i crossed the Humber bridge to the Far Ings bird sanctuary, and on the bridge i met a large group of people doing a sponsored walk (not unusual there).
Thing is, they were all members of local karate clubs and wearing their white suits and coloured belts.
Now, i bet you think i'm going to say they were all barefoot, but no, just ONE was bf, all the others wore training shoes, which surprised me as i thought karate exponents were proud of their hard "weaponised" feet.
I hadn't planned on running, but i had to show them how it should be done, and managed to raise the energy to run past all the walkers.
I got one comment, from a kid near the front, who said "look, he's doing it barefoot"
He would have been even more impressed if he had seen where i was going. as the last half mile to the sanctuary (along the river) is all gravel.

not always John. as a martial artist myself most train and compete barefoot but few are barefooters outside the school. our christmas parade sometimes has a karate school in the parade and none are barefoot not just because of the length of parade or walking on asphalt but becasue they don't want dirty feet shown with the uniform.

Thanks TX, but they could have got more sponsorship money by offering to go bf.

Lots of sightings today, just in my neighborhood! Most of them were kids and one adult female, so altogether about 7 barefoot people I saw today. Yes, summer is in full swing  and many of my neighbors are barefooting it! :D

That sounds like the guys who engage in the ultimate fighting sport, where they compete barefoot. I heard that outside the ring, these guys wear shoes. Just like martial arts, I guess.

again barefooters! a small group of young men and women mostly in shorts and wearing dreads and generally a tad freaky, three of them barefoot with no shoes in sight , approaching the promenade on the sea. my sweet company as well almost joined 'us' because of her very stilish shoes that started hurting like hell , yet she refused to take them off. spite of the suffocatingly hot night she also kept her very stilish jacket on. «women seem kind of fond of taking quite some pain and discomfort for the sake of showing good looks» i couldn't refrain from noticing, «lots of» she agreed with a smile of pain.

Yesterday morning I passed by a local church because they were holding a car wash for their youth ministry, so I got my car cleaned (only $5.00! :D). Anyway, four of the kids working on my car were barefoot (3 girls and 1 guy). Nice weather for both car washing and going barefoot!

Well, it finally happened: two pairs of bare feet meeting, and eye-contact, too! Yesterday evening, just before heavy thunderstorms hit my area, I boarded the subway/tram homeward, and a teenage girl, wearing a yellow and red flowery summer dress stepped off the tram, barefoot, no shoes in sight together with her sneaker-wearing boyfriend, who made it his business to point out my bare feet to her, as I entered the tram... I smiled, nodded a greeting, while she was giving me a slightly befuddled, then indifferent look.

At least, one more person defying the fashion dictate of flip-flops in favour of bare feet.

    Wiggling bare toes,

    ~*Ganesha*~

A local youth (mid teens) who lives a couple of hundred yards from me has suddenly started going bf this week, which surprised me as he has previously always worn trainers or boots. Yesterday he was walking home bf, no shoes in sight, and his grubby soles indicated he'd been bf all day.
I wonder if he is one of the many thousands of facebook "friends" of barefoot bandit Colton Moore, coincidentally arrested the day before this boy discarded his boots, and is going bf in support?
I hope not, it would give barefooting a bad name if they all did the same!

You make an interesting point. I wonder if the notoriety of the Barefoot Bandit will cause a barefoot response from the younger crowd? They might think it's cool or otherwise rebellious and follow suit in support/respect.
