Hi guys, Although i have wanted dreads for 3years or so, i finally was able to at the weekend [education shitstem wouldnt allow it] now that i finsihed school. Now, I went for 3/4" squares and my girlfriend did them for me. I gained knowledge on the know-how over the years, inparticular dreadheadhq stuff and jonnyclean. Now, Some of my newly backcombed dreads look a little too thin.. Obviously they are all spikey as hell, but some look thinner than others, even though squares are around the same size.. Does this suggest mistakes in the backcombing process. Or, the face that i havent waxed and palmrolled yet, and the fact they are freshly done be a factor? Cheers guys Alex
How thin are you talking? I have a couple of really thin sections, one would be like half a cm in diameter, they seem to be fine. I'm sure it won't be a problem at all. I like when they have a bit of variance in size like that too. It may just be that although the section size was the same in that area, the hair was probably just a bit thinner there. But from what you wrote it sounds like you are going to wax them! Please don't! Have a browse through here: http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=379738&f=209
i mean, thinner than i expected. like if u imagine the 3.4" square, and the cacuasion undreaded hair rubber banded in sections,, i expected it to be slightly thicker than the hair in rubber bands.. eventually the size is how thick compared to the square sections? all the best
They will join together and get fatter don't worry. Really I thought the same thing when I first started, now I have some fatties, some normal ones, and some small ones. It all works itself out.
just leave them alone as much as possible, they will lock and tighten and get thicker with very little influence. just takes time.
i dunno, dreadhead hq have given me some useful tips... but they also come out with some right bollocks. at the end of the day, they wanna make money... even if it does involve giving out crap advice and making useless products
