Or is it the television that destroys the art of a friendly conversation?

    Too black or white.

Film can be an art form... Or it can be a deterrent to living well by sucking up allof your free time. Moderation, mang.

Perhaps a better question would be if a black and white television is not more superior to a colour tv, being the fact that its gray colours are more true to real life.

I rarely have the TV on and never when having people over. The only time it is on then, is when they put it on to watch something that they wish to. Often it is a sporting event.

I talk then just to irritate them.... ;)

When my mates come over we watch tv and tease everyone on it. Our friendship bonds and they leave knowing the relationship has strengthened, thanks to the mishaps of others.

Yeah, leave a tv on with nothing on it, sound down, people will still look at it from time to time. Very hypnotic.

In Australia it was on the news quite a bit, but we didn't sit around watching it all day.

I worked in a mental hospital at the time of 911, we had to cut some the cable channels off the Tv sets in the day rooms, It was fucking with patients.. Some overly medicated people thought it was a movie anyways..

i don't know how to stop anyone from doing anything. i know i like not hearing it though.

being able to hear the real things around me. off in the distance as well as nearby.
sounds of machinery and sounds of nature, all going about things that give nor take nor ask nor require anything of any one person.

I don't watch TV much. I dod follow a couple of shows on hulu.

I used to have this thing where i would ahve to have the tv on, the white noise or something.

not watching tv makes you smarter and it makes you think for yourself.

You have got a point. How creepy is it to be around people that cannot tell you what happened to Jack and Jill, when they went up the hill, but are able to tell you what happened in the last season of Will and grace?
