I love this band. Their first two albums are amazing. Unfortunately though their music lost a lot of flare after John Cale left, but it was still damn good. any other fans??
Oh God, I thought everybody forgot about Lou Reed's mad band. I love them, they're so "cool", with cool black shades on their pics. Their music is so vivid, like I could dance like madman to most of their songs, especially "What Goes On", "Rock And Roll", "Run Run Run", "Sister Ray", "I Can't Stand It" and other... They have true spirit of rock and roll in their songs, with brilliant improvisations and unique style. It's such a shame they weren't popular as the other bands, they deserve it so much.
Venus in Furs is one of my favourite songs ever. Every time when I heard the song I need to think how it´s possible to compose that simple but gorgeous song.
I think that this song was one of many great songs of theirs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xcwt9mSbYE&feature=related"]YouTube- The Velvet Underground - Heroin (song only) I always loved it. PAX
definitely, have you heard the version where John Cale is on vocals? it's, dare i say, better than the studio version. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=669cvXlW4dc"]YouTube- The Velvet Underground - Andy Warhol - Venus In Furs
Velvet Underground was a band who went [against the grain of what people were doing at that time.Thats what I like about them.I don't think thay lost there flare when John Cale was replaced by Doug Yule they just toned it down. Its still good stuff of course,Anything by VU is good
Velvet Underground is Pretty good stuff, I have to be in the mood for it though: Top 10 Velvet Underground Songs: Heroin Sweet Jane White Light, White Heat Sister Ray Venus in Furs Waiting on the Man What Goes on Sunday Morning Oh Sweet Nothing Rock and Roll The songs Nico sang aren't really my thing.
I dig the Velvets. Here's a cool little bit of trivia. Back in the early '60s before they were The Velvet Underground they called themselves The Warlocks. Concurrently there was a band in the San Francisco Bay area called The Warlocks. One day the bass player for the west coast Warlocks was in a record store and saw a single bay another band called the Warlocks. In order to avoid a lawsuit they changed their name to "The Greatful Dead". Peace Out, Rev J
That was like not really trivia, or I thought it was going to be a trivia question i should say. that was more factual information, I was getting excited to because I was going to answer your question of "who else was the warlocks?" were you to ask it.

Surely I cant be the only person who likes MMM ? You might not want to listen to it 24/7, but it has its moments and I have moods that suit it. Personally, I'd have liked the VU to have done more with Nico - she made the most interesting albums of any ex-Velvet [IMO, of course...] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CHmAUODVaLY"]YouTube- The Velvet Underground & Nico - I'll be your mirror
yup sure do...there's a new live release out on Sundazed..more from 1969.. http://www.sundazed.com/ electricity comes from other planets.. the pope in the silver castle.. peace, Ben Fuzz
These 2 songs to me kind of tell a whole story: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOmZimH00oo"]YouTube- The Velvet Underground - I'm Waiting For The Man https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xcwt9mSbYE"]YouTube- The Velvet Underground - Heroin (song only) I love the fact that he quotes Burroughs in "Waiting for the Man." I also read an interview with Lou Reed that where he said that it allways makes him sad when people tell him they were listening to "Heroin" the first time they shot up. I think that these 2 are also very obviously anti-heroin songs telling of the dark side unflinchingly. I also consider "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" as an anti-drug book disguised as a drug book. Peace Out, Rev J
