ouch Naturally, the Beatles are the greatest ever. But 'Breakfast In America' is one of my top ten favorite albums which is why I thought of tramp. I've been suitably chastized.
Supertramp are uncool, but extremely creative and talented. "Crime Of The Century" is as good as "Breakfast In America", in my opinion. Certainly wouldn't say they were one of the UK's top bands, but they definitely deserve more respect than they get.
Sgt Pepper overshadowed alot of other releases in the summer of love '67', and possibly rightly so, but lets not forget the genius of Steve Marriot (The Small Faces - Ogdens Nut Gone Flake), or Ray Davies (The Kinks - Something Else By The KInks)...or The Hurdy Gurdy Man Donovan too for that matter... Sunshine came crashing through my..window today.. Ben Fuzz
How anyone could say anyone other than the Beatles is beyond me. They're the best band ever, so naturally they're also the best UK band of all time. It would be more challenging to pick the best American, Canadian, or Australian band of all time... and I think they would still be pretty far behind a lot of other British bands.
Funniest. Answer. Ever. My choices - The Beetles or Queen. However, they aren't my favourite British groups per say, just ones I believe should always be respected for impeccable songwriting and contribution to music. Personal favourites are (including those) The Smiths, Radiohead and Dire Straits.
It might be because the only British band you know is the Beatles. Obviously the only comedy to come out of Britain is Monty Python.
Oh absolutely-- changing the face of music and the music industry as we know it has absolutely nothing to do with it. If you're going to act superior, try to be insightful as well-- it doesn't help your case if the best you can manage is blatant ignorance.
