Hi im a Vegan and I have realllly bad athletes foot so I was just wondering if some other vegans could tell me some ways to get rid of it?
stop wearing shoes or at least take them off as much as you can.. always clean socks! tea tree oil directly on it will kill fungus. colloidal silver kills fungus too and can be ingested or applied directly.. vegan yogurts help balance the body to fight it.
Studies do not show colloidal silver to be safe or effective. The Food and Drug Administration says the supplement has no known benefits. ZW
if you enclose your feet in sometype of footwear, they will sweat and stay wet untill, you take the footwear off. a fungus grows in dark, wet, areas of the skin. when it occurs on the feet, it's called 'athletes foot.' the only real long term cure for it is, keeping the feet dry, most of the time. if you must wear footwear most of the time; wear flip flops, sandles or, some other type of footwear that allows for air circulation. you can get socks that pull the mosture from the skin and, the sock materal will dry very, very, quickly also. never, ever, wear cotton or wool socks! when they get wet, they stay wet. you'll have prement athletes foot if you wear cotton or wool. dry feet throughly after bathing, swimming etc! if your feet still feel wet between the toes after drying them; use a fan and, put your feet in front of it. use powder on your feet and between your toes after your feet and between your toes are dry. you can buy plain cornstrach at the supermarket, and powder your feet with that. don't use talc as a powder! it is no where as good as cornstarch is at removing and asborbing moisture. if you need a short term medical treatment for the fungus. get a bottle of 'gold bond powder.'
Maybe you know something I don't, but I have to disagree with this. I get sores/athlete's if I wear anything BUT cotton socks because polyesters and other synthetics don't let your skin breathe. Another vote for tea tree oil, although you might want to dilute it 50/50 with water... it will probably burn like hell if you apply full strength directly to broken skin. You may also want to try warm sea salt soaks. Fill up a foot basin with warm water and add 1/8 cup sea salt. Soak 15-20 mins or until water cools to room temp and dry thoroughly. You probably won't be able to find a 100% organic/vegan product, but applying a triple antibiotic ointment to the sores after cleaning will help them heal.
