They always show people painting with bizarre flamboyant colors, such as lime green, fluorescent chartreuse, and flaming barf yellow. Does the average person really pick paints like that? .
Many modern applications call for two colors and if the colors are chosen correctly they'll play-off each other in such a way as to appear less ostentatious Hotwater
I don't know. The colors in those paint commercials make me feel like I'm on an acid trip. Much like walking down the detergent aisle at the supermarket after you had a few too many. .
What the Orange Tide w/ Bleach container doesn’t match the Red Gain or Blue Cheer containers Hotwater
well, my living room is a deep forest green and warm, slightly mossy brown. together they look REALLY nice, especially with the white trim. it has really tall ceilings so the room looks a lot cozier. my kitchen is a deep orange that looks red at night and the ceiling is a nice toffee color and with a swathe of blue grey over the french doors. it also looks awesome with the white trim. most people walk inside and think we're filthy rich. it's warm, inviting and beautiful and there's not a white wall to be found in the house, which is how i like it. :coffee:
That sounds beautiful and very restful! I think many times it is just people are afraid of colours. They can not visualize what it is going to look like. I usually paint it and leave it for a while to see if I like it, if not, it is easy enough to paint over. I like warm but rich colours and usually it is to get the same depth in colours when blending them in a room. Paint is a cheap fix it.
it really is. i have an office that i want to paint grey, with the white trim, of course. my furniture will eventually be a reddish stained wood, but i have loads of wall are in vivid reds, blues, oranges and such. it has a huge vaulted ceiling from which i'm going hang a fan. hard to explain it, but that's what i want.
That sounds pretty cool. I've never seen anything like that on a paint commercial. Just single solid odd colors that are supposed to grab our attention, I suppose. You'd think they'd be more creative. .
they're going for the magpie chicks, shag. i prefer a masculine decor. however, my girls' room will be obnoxiously bright, because that's what they like. my bedroom is going to be rich blue and copper.
On one of those DIY shows on cable TV, they painted the wall with an iron-bearing paint. It corroded to turn from a brown color to a burnt orange color which took days. The girl said, "Give it time. It's corroding." The guy said, "It looks more like it's commoding". .
My room is bright ass orange. I love it though. If I had my own house I'd probably paint my walls a rich maroon color, or greys, beige, etc.
Last summer we redid a friends bedroom in her cottage. She faces the water and she did it in periwinkle blue with one wall in pewter. It was stunning as the blue of the water and the morning sun reflected through her French doors onto the pewter wall. The ceiling was done in a soft grey shade as well as the trim. The overall look is beautiful. Her husband kept bitching saying it was going to be too dark and I think he loves it more than even her. People just need to play more with colours.
I love color. I go through phases, for a while I was doing all rich earth tones, now my house is mostly bright but muted blues and greens. I think it's all about finding shades of color your comftorable with. My bf tried to paint the whole house beige when I had all rich colors cuz he couldent stand em. Now he loves the muted colors and actually picked color for his office. Im trying to pick paint for my sunroom, Ive got it down to a bright blue called "Filoli Morning Glory" a vibrant bight green called "Meadow Twilight" and a bright but not obnoxious orage called "Autumm Glimmer" Im trying to figure out how to use 2 if not all 3 of em without looking like the circus.
Men are like that. It's like they think the paint is made from their own ground up testicles or something.
I painted my bedroom red, my computer room is aqua and the rest of the place is a neutral color called lions mane.
my walls are covered in uncut rolls of lays potato chip bag material. salt and vineger for the computer room. bbq for the kitchen. original for the bedroom. etc...
