Iron Man 2 Movie Blurb by Shale May 7, 2010 On May 2, 2008 I wrote this about Iron Man: "What can I say? Go see this movie! You know who you are and you don't need a review because you were going to see this movie anyhow (if you haven't already). For those select people, you won't be disappointed. For the rest of you here's my attempt at a review..." Well, this movie sequel won't get the superlatives of that first one, some of those compulsive comic book moviegoers may even be disappointed in this sequel, but I think you will really like it - I did. As shown in the first movie, Tony comes out as Iron Man. Now he is being subpoenaed to appear before the U.S. Senate to explain why his weapon should not be given to the military. Lead investigator is Senator Stern (Gary Shandling - casting a clown in this role was spot-on) but Stark refuses to give up control of his creation, claiming that he has privatized world peace and that he alone will have the Iron Man technology for another decade. Actually, Tony Stark is doing all the rich, playboy, industrialist stuff in the first movie, only now as Iron Man it is over the top. He is quite public and popular and the senator can't force the issue. Then the mysterious Russian, Ivan Vanko (Mickey Rourke) shows up with a grudge against Tony. He has a totally tattooed body of an old Wrestler but apparently able to compete with Tony Stark in physics. He designs a power source like Stark's for his whips that cut thru anything, such as Tony's race car in the Monte Carlo Grande Prix. Ivan Vanko Tries to Whip Tony Stark He fails to kill Stark of course (got more movie to go) but is recruited by Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell) an arms dealer who wants to make armored suits to beat Iron Man so he can get the government contract. During all this, Tony is having a rough time, senses his mortality and is given to wild partying and drinking and other irresponsible stuff. When confronted by his long time assistant, Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) about not taking care of business he makes her CEO of Stark Enterprises. Pepper, you run the biz and I'll just tinker in the basement During a drunken party, with Stark in his Iron Man armor and can't be controlled, his friend Col. James "Rhodey" Rhodes (Don Cheadle) gets into the other suit he was checking out in the first movie (Then played by Terrence Howard). You know they will both be suited up and fighting together in this movie Iron Man & Iron Man 2 Well, don't have to tell you more of the story - you know it involves Iron Man fighting with Hammer's robots that Vanko has perfected. There will be lots of flying, fighting, blowing up and frightening moments that you expect. There will also be characters that you expect, such as the legal aide Natalie Rushman (Scarlett Johansson) who turns out to be more than a pretty face (and bod) as Natasha Romanoff or Black Widow of the Avengers. Oh, yeah, this movie appears to be a setup for Avengers and Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) makes more screen time than his brief appearance at the end of the first movie. Nick & Iron Man Negotiating I really liked this movie - it was what I expected. I hasn't gotten the glowing reviews of the first movie but hey, it is a sequel. If you can sit thru about 5 minutes of end credits there is a little half-minute of set up footage for the next movie.
That's probably true. But, if you are a big comic book MOVIE fan, you probably will like it. Can you explain why you did not like it?
being a comic book fan i was highly disappointed but still excited about the clip at the end of the movie............................ after the credits
Iv read a couple of Iron man comics .. wouldnt agree that comic book movies need to be like the comics themselves .. but thats a debate for another day didn't like the movie too much either. seemed very disorganized as far as story progression was concerned.
