Just curious, having never been there myself, how does a threshold DMT experience compare to a huge dose of LSD? I'm under the impression that a large dose of LSD takes you to this sacred and transcendent place, but i've heard DMT is miles beyond that. Can anyone elaborate a bit from direct experience?

You may need to dive deeper into what you mean about not having control over my thoughts because I'd say alot of the time I do. Sure I don't know where I'm grabbing them from, but before I start my day I think about what I have to do. Or before I do something I attack it through my thoughts, like how am I going to cut this grass. What's the most efficient way to re-shingle this house, etc. My first trip I remember it was very difficult to concentrate on what I was thinking, but I remember I was thinking. I remember being able to steer my thoughts away from certain topics.

Maybe we can relate this to say a carnival.

On a roller coaster I can't control the direction, the speed, etc (which is what I would say a higher dose would be like?). But say, bumper cars, I have control of where I turn, and avoiding a hit sometimes. Other times you can't avoid a hit just like with a low dose?

I'm not trying to bother you with this, I just don't understand. I guess I won't be able to "see" until I do take a larger dose.

Dmt from my brief but recent experience is hard to compare with LSD. I actually used to have your kind of mindset, maybe I'm falsely attributing this to you but like the idea of psychedelics as stepping stones in experience, like you do pot then shrooms is the next logical stop, then LSD, then dmt as if there is some sort of hiearchichal order in the intensity and profundity of these experiences which I don't believe to be the case.

A threshold dmt experience is about 4-6 hits of LSD in my experience visually.

Now the reason I said you can't really compare the two is dmt for me and I know many others based on reading doesn't really alter your mental perception like LSD. There a slight sense of relaxation and then it basically just sling shots/rockets you through these amazing beautiful visual worlds. I have enjoyed dmt a tremendous amount in my limited use and it certainly does have my respect but thus far I find LSD to be more of a complete experience eventhough sensation wise its not as intense. If you literally mean a sacred and transcendent place then dmt does that not LSD to me, LSD's sacred and transcendent 'place' is of the mind and being not the vision.

Porky, lying down and allowing the music to do its magic always does it for me, but 'ordinary' music drags me back down, psych works best.

As for low dose versus high dose; the molecules that we ingest slot themselves in where the serotonin and other molecules would normally sit, thus blocking out messages they were likely carrying etc.

Basically, IMO, it breaks down the filters, the thoughts and the interpretations of our mind temporaily allowing that state of awareness.

When deciding how much of a dose to have, it is important to remember that a being with say 5-10% of these remaining filters will be more likely to get into trouble than a being with 0% (ego death).

One who may try to fight for control and/or overthink in such a distorted position would be far better if their thoughts entirely ceased entirely (for the duration of the peak) allowing the experience to do its thing, lying down, deap within their own mind, rather than a state of semi-awareness about the experience with the chance to struggle and fight :)

Havn't put this as well as I would have liked, hope it makes sense...

I agree with you 100% and think those are excellent phrasings of what you're communicating and very salient themselves to this discussion. :D

First off let me just say that I feel you pork are a bit of hard head with drugs. I think you should increase your dose of things generally 20-40% compared to the 'standard' or 'average'. I dunno just a hunch. Yet you tend to always dose low. I think this is why you're not getting these deeper lessons, it really is just a dosage question, everything else is aligned to receive.

In regards to that comment, it was a rash comment but what i meant was the visuals were of the same strength approximately. however this says nothing of the synesthesia which is the primary effect which increases the higher you go. I mean on 2 hoffies the visuals were insane but on 15 hits the visuals were also my thoughts which were also my skin which was also my mood which was also my forest surroundings etc

I like your awareness of the effect of music. My friend i trip with sometimes sees no benefit to having music and always prefers conversation. I think there is some kind of emotional block maybe.

I know what you mean about the amount. I still to this day am absolutely flabergasted at what happens with 1.5 strips . . . it brings a big smile to my lips when I think of it, when I recall the feeling of it. The feeling of the energy of it. Wow. It almost brings a tear to my eye, divinely beautiful :)

I get exactly what guerrilla is saying and i get the exact same vibe from you pork. i dunno if meticulous is quite the right word, though i can't think of a better one right now (calculating comes to mind but context is missing, its not meant in a "cold and calculating" way)

And this is what i've been struggling to communicate with my friend who won't stop talking during trips! lol! the true enjoyment of a psychedelic comes from a still and quiet mind, watching the psychedelic with full attention. That's when you can really get into the juicy goodness of it.

I feel this can be plainly labeled "maturity". I feel psychedelic trips are massive speedups of brain processing (thus more activity possible) and therefore translate subjecitvely as time compressions (which they do always) and therefore it is possible, in one of these rare, beautifully horrible trips where a crystal hose the size of the milky way galaxy spews out revelations and harsh truths about your entire life and who you are with the insane fury of a lovecraftian demon, to actually learn so much raw data that it equates with an exponentially longer period of equivalent life lived.

Yeah it's hard to resist the "drop out" part of the mantra for me. But I know it's not the way. It's just the natural pull of my mind after doing acid especially.

Oh wow, absolutely. That makes total sense, the 15 hits were really different ;)

These have made their way down to Austin and Houston, tx right now... God we're glad to have this potent medicine coming around. I think it's going to be a good summer. I had some liquid that the guy didn't tell me was incredibly strong up front and two hits had me weeping the entire next morning from the absolute beauty of reuniting with god... So beautiful. I've been hearing these shiva's are ~250ug. O_O

That appears to be correct, yes. They are monstrous. What's scary is that they aren't the strongest ones out there . . .

apples and oranges man. DMT is closer to mushrooms than LSD. You can think of it as a mushroom trip compressed into 5 minutes, but with its own particular flavor. But there's nothing that makes DMT stand out from any other powerfully psychedelic tryptamine imo. I don't see why we equate DMT to some kind of sacred god powder while 4-aco-dmt, DPT, 4-HO-DMT etc are "just tryptamines". They are actually all very, very similar in a deep way. It's just different flavors of the same thing.

So to compare the intensity of a lysergamide with a tryptamine is hard, DMT is more of a total shutdown of your connection to normal reality and a full plunge into tryptamine headspace with a completely new visual field, complete ego death, etc. LSD is much more about your thoughts and who you are and the sacred paradox of existence.

Don't let Mckenna fool you, they are all good baby :)

It's very very positive, like overwhelmingly positive, which can be terrifying. You are suddenly in the Hall of the Mountain King, and there is dancing and music. You may or may not remember, that's up to you, your trip, and your dose. Do you remember taking mushrooms during mushrooms? Sometimes, other times not. Same with DMT. The first effect you will experience from inhaling the vapors is relaxation and vibration, as your consciousness begins to change channels.

Honestly, the first hit is like that... Pure energy... It shocks you by how fast it hits you... The second hit everything gets REAL. The thought of breaking through is terrifying... That if you take any more you may explode... Or lose your sanity, etc... Then you take the third hit... Blast off. :)

After the first blast off it hasn't really been nearly as frightening, though. :)

    Happy blasting to you. :)

The other two above me summed it up pretty well but ill add a bit i guess. Is it difficult? I would say yes... it's certainly not something you can ignore, you are fully engrossed in the experience once you are there, you are there. Language is very limited in 'figuring' out what's going on there too so it's hard to relate with consensual reality.

Is it frightening? I have not found it frightening in the least so far, I have found it powerful though. I do believe many users after a certain repeated use run into some tough experiences and I certainly see how it would be possible but it's nature is very enchanting and the visual aspect, information and 'language' of the experience is incredibly beautiful.

In regards to the last question, if someone were to ask you what are you on? You probably couldn't answer them under the influence of DMT but because DMT feels like something so in tune with the human mind/soul/thought process/collective unconscious there is a slight retention of knowing it's an experience. Besides the initial relaxation Writer touched on I never really feel intoxicated from it but I don't necessarily feel controlled by the experience or something else either, I just feel like the other is showing me somewhere/something else incredibly powerful.

    I don't know....
I'm guess I could take enough mushrooms so that I break through like on DMT...for instance not being able to really tell the difference if my eyes are open or closed...but....I don't think I could handle that for so long. (I also wonder if that would completely work or if I might black out before getting to that point on 4-HO-DMT or something that metabolises to it.)

I've taken high doses on mushrooms before and had intensely visual/emotional trips, but nothing like having my visual field break apart into a completely different world not similar to anything that's really there, or losing my ability to tell if I'm breathing or not, etc.

A full break through experience on DMT is really like nothing else I've ever experienced in it's intensity and depth.

(I really don't know about DPT....I never really took enough because it scared me....)
(Are you sure you're smoking enough??)

i just smoked salvia last night, and that's kinda how that was. i took one big hit, held it, and felt it working. i said "woah" and took a second big, but smaller hit. then i was GONE. there was no time to think about breaking through because it just happened. and during it i had no idea i had done salvia. i literally thought i was being shown all these new, alternate dimensions as part of a sick, twisted joke.

when i wrote that, i was kinda thinking in comparison to a salvia breakthrough. from what i've read, i know the two aren't very similar at all..but would you say DMT is difficult like salvia (was for me)?

and do you personally find salvia frightening?
maybe if i broke through a second time, it wouldn't be SO surprising
