What are everyone's views on free range eggs? I eat eggs but only if they are free range so i would like to know some other points of view.

We get free range ones. Just because my omni family eat them, and at least they're better than battery ones.

I'm avoid eggs within food products (odds are they wouldn't be free range) and don't eggs outright, because they are basically a hen's period, and surely that shouldn't be a food product.

A hen's period. Hmmm, well everything in nature is recycled.Flies might be a pain, but they are part of nature's recycling system.Did you know in the UK orange peel takes about seven years to decompose properly because there are not the right organisms around to recycle it? Mushrooms are another case of nature recycling.Just think that the atoms that make up the cells in your body have been around for eons and may have been part of dinosaurs!

Anyway I buy free range eggs when I can get them.

Personally, any company's concept of "free-range" is probably not what you guys are thinking of. I wouldn't trust them because I know alot of companies that have the "free-range" label but still perform atrocities to the chickens. I wouldn't trust it unless I researched their products and made sure they were a good company. The best way to go if you desperately must have eggs is to raise the chickens yourself or get it from a local organic free range farmer so you know for sure how their methods are.

free range chickens are still living in horriable conditions. Instead of cages they live crowded together on a warehouse floor. It looks awful to me so I don't eat eggs.

In sticking with the consensus, I've read that the term "free range" is pretty much unregulated. In that case, you can be sure that the majority of the farmers using the term are still mistreating the chickens to maximize profits.

It's best to eliminate eggs from your diet as soon as you feel comfortable doing so. Considering that they're basically a big glop of mucous that came out of an animal's butt, I don't feel that giving them up should be too difficult.
