Hi gang, Anyone have experience with CAP's "Ebb & Gro" EBB-12? Considering adding/changing my grow scenario from soil to this...or maybe other suggestion. Appreciate any feedback, as they are $$ but convenient. TKS...
Or does anyone have comments on comparison of ebb & flow systems vs. the trays or irrigation-tube-style systems? TKS...
Hey Trader hows it goin'! I've used a system like that (home made), once ya get the nutes and schedules setup, there's not much to do but sit back watch grass grow, refill the res. occ. and ajst the nutes for progressing life changes of the plants.>)
Hey Nat.... Going better. Had to change inside grow area...expanding...so plants suffered a bit while 'waiting' for new home. Now larger and no need for ducted hoods as heat dissipates better. Just tired of mixing/moving tons of soil so thinking of 48 site Ebb & Flow system. Greenhouse (outside) is getting too hot again so thinking of removing top for summer. Lots of dispensaries popping up...so hopefully things will go smoothly. Cheers....
I hear ya, about dirt totin'! The only thing about that sys. I'd change would be from hydroton to coco fiber/chips. The reason being only once a day watering, instead of every few hours saves on water and electricity consumption. And if the res doesn't have an auto fill valve, with a seperate timer so that it doesn't try to fill itself while water is in the buckets, water gets everywhere without timer. The reason I like this featre is I only had to add nutes once a week, as opposed to trying to keep nutes level all the time. Coco retains the nutes so ya can feed less othen. Then after harvest just rinse coco and replant:>)
Interesting you mention the coco/hydroton issue. Both were described to me, and the 4 vs. 1 time per day soak was described, but I didn't think coco could be used more than once. I DO like the idea of keeping the nutes in the medium however, as they cost $$$ these days. As to the refill issue, the EBB & FLOW system has a huge reservoir (50gal) that comes with setup, but no 'autofil' so you don't have to worry about water going everywhere. It goes up to 48 sites: double buckets, hoses, baskets, etc.. Check it out online and let me know what you think. Cheers...and thanks.
Got it up and running. Now trying to figure out if an RO water treatment is needed, since the 'values' are in ppm when you use Advanced Nutrients with the system. Since my incoming well-water is about 550-600ppm, I'm trying to figure out if I need to account for this when adding nutes. Anyone know?
