Morphine from Regular Poppies.

I was wondering if you could use regular poppies to make morphine. I was thinking that the sap would be very mild compared to an opium poppy but if you refined it into morphine you would get pure morphine just in a much smaller amount.

 

Opium is dried latex from poppies.. which contains Morphine and Codeine along with other non-narcotic alkaloids...

I hear you, joker, and there is an opiates forum. But it says right up there ^^ in boldface, "This is the place for stoners to discuss anything they like." If this guy with the funny name wants to ask the potheads questions that the junkies would likely have better answers for, that sounds like an invitation.

kinda misread his post.. or he changed it.. either way.. Papaver somniferum is the Opium Poppy.. it's the only poppy that will contain the latex that is opium.. you need a lot of poppies.. to make it worth cultivating opium.. to cultivate enough latex to get just enough morphine would be exponentially higher. since the latex roughly contains up to 12% Morphine.. So in short.. it's not worth it.. and probably involves supplies and techniques you are not familiar with or could obtain
