I did a search and saw some other threads on the topic, but I figured an updated discussion can't hurt. Basically I can't decide if I should keep rubber bands on all the new babies or just let them do their thing and rip them apart later if they get too big in some areas. I have tiny bands on most of them right now. One per dread, and placed in the middle.
mmm, ive been stuck about this.. ive heard they thin your hair and leave rubbery deposits... so ive started using cotton thread instead
Well someone forgot to tell me. Maybe that's the reason it's takin my hair so long to knot up. I think I might be on to something.
it does make sense that the friction would help hair lock up but my personal experience of rubber bands on my last set; they did thin the dreads and left gross goo stuff. one at the back that i forgot to remove got assimilated by the dread so it had black/purple gooey insides!! one of the main reasons i cut >< i also used wax though. might have had some gank reaction. mainly, bands might help if you're less retarded than me.
how is this an updated discussion? it's the same discussion we always have. someone wants other to reassure them that putting rubber bands on locks will "help". then, we do the exact opposite, and blow their minds with anti-rubber band propaganda. then, the person may or may not run flaming out of the forum.
take them out and let them be,they will A- turn out nicer B-You wont have to worry bout getting the little bastards out and finally C- They look a bit silly imo
