Forget the person for a sec and all the utterly terrible and insane shit he did and lets go through just his music. Ive recently downloaded his LIE: The love and Terror Cult, and i think it is a nice album which could have if he didnt go to prison or even commited what he did couldve become big hit. As example Look at your game girl catchy or at least to me. So yeah please dont let this topic become a venting thing on charles manson the man just the music

I love some of his stuff...some not so much. Quite a bit of his music is just him strumming and rambling in his cell. I do agree that Look at Your Game, Girl is a first rate tune.

Although I do like to hear his crazy assed jailhouse schtick as well...

Some of his shit's pretty good, actually. "Cease To Exist" is probably the best one I've heard:

The Beach Boys made a cover of Manson's "Cease To Exist" with this song. Manson's version is better, imo:

I think its mostly crap, it sounds alot like any street musician given a chance to make a low quality recording. Not even a very good street musician of that era, when lyrics and rhymes got just about everyone a chance to make a demo - as evidenced by this particular recording!

I have had this album for years, proceeds for it went to the families of the victims. I still play it once a year for halloween tho, since I find its most appealing quality to be the spooky factor lol

Indeed. I think that was the first of his songs I ever heard, and it's easily the best one, imo.

    I tend to agree.

Is it true that Manson auditioned for The Monkees ? How different history might have turned out if he'd got a part !

If you didn't know that this was Charles Manson, it might be okay... but I think it's just kind of creepy to listen to, even that garbage dump is eerie...

Not really, at least I wasn't impressed. Is that even Manson singing. The tonal quality of the voice sounds completely different.
But then again I really don't give a shit about Manson, except to wonder why he often pops up as a topic of discussion in these forums?

The fact that it's Manson actually makes it better, imo. The fact that we already know how complicated of a person he is kinda adds a bit of depth to his music, as opposed to it being someone we know nothing about or someone who is obviously very two-dimensional.

yeah, i agree with The Earth and dont have to agree that Cease to Exist is good! lol I also agree with BBAD in that of the crappy manson songs Garbage Dump is probably my fave.

Also, I cracked up when someone mentioned Season of the Witch - that is exactly what I meant when I said he sounded like a street musician! At the time, a LOT of singers tried to sound like Dylan or Donovan, with varied degrees of success.

Admitting that Manson singing makes it more listenable sounds like you are more interested in the singer than the song - which is what I was saying. If it wasnt Manson this album would be complete crap. If it werent a murderer doing the music this album would never get listened to.

    because Charlie is Mans Son!

Its effin creepy, cause Charlies kids are now in their 40s... I often wonder where they are and how many little Mansons we have out there - or even here on the forums!
