Misfits suck ass. The old Misfits kick. The funny thing is, as much as they suck now, Glenn Danzig still owns the rights to the band and and the logo and makes most the money off of all the merchandising..

Sex Pistols didn't birth anything. If you want to go to the spawn of punk go way back to the MC5(1964-1972). They influenced a lot of garage bands in the late 70's, what was later given the name "punk" and commercialized by Malcolm McClaren who created The Sex Pistols just to make money. Bands were out way before the Sex Pistols like Eddie and the Hotrods. Before it was known as Eddie and the Hot rods, they were formerly "Buckshee" in 1973.

As for Sid Vicious, he was a goon, the guy didn't even know how to play his instrument. Most of the stuff recorded on "Nevermind The Bollocks" that was base was Glen Matlock. The only reason Malcom put him there is because he looked the part. Watch old Pistols vids, he doesn't even play but a few picks. All he did was jump around and cut himself like some emo freak.

But if it makes you feel better and sleep better at night thinking the pistols invented Punk, Stay cool. All that stuff came and went before you were born and you talk like the info you speak is fact.

Oh, and as far as releasing the first punk 45 on vinyl, it was New Rose with B side Help By The Damned. And if you are wondering about the first punk LP, it was labeled DAMNED DAMNED DAMNED yet again, by The Damned.

At least do some research before you try to school on what you don't know...

Well, I don't think the Misfits "suck ass". I love the old Misfits with Danzig - after he left, they went down hill VERY fast. I do think they're stuff has too much 'publicity in the sense that their stuff is fuckin everywhere. I could go up to a kid with that Misfit's fiend skull all over them, and not know who the fuck the Misfits were.

    The BEST punk bands

A.F.I - Anyone who disagrees knows shit. I am not talking about anything from 'Sing The Sorrow' or thereafter. If you think that's what AFI sound is then it shows you know shit about punk. Everything before that was incredible, partially 'Black Sails In The Sunset', 'All Hallows EP' and 'The Art Of Drowning'. That era was genius, truly original punk. Originality is hard to come by in this genre

Thought Riot - Great, political Lyrics. Snappy, god vocals. Were a good, underrated band anybody would appreciate.

Bad Religion - No need to explain.

The Misfits - They do not suck. Both era's were great but Danzig wrote some classics didn't he?

Wild card: Nekromantx - I know it's Psychobilly but fuck it, these guys and old Tiger Army are more punk than many would like themselves t believe.

The Clash - Took influence from EVERYWHERE. Joe Strummer is missed, no one was pushing the boundaries then or even now quite like he, and the rest of the band tried to do. Good stuff.

Amen - Heh, angry stuff. Amazing live, and heavy as shit. Some of the heaviest punk rock around, proving this 3 chord EADGBE thing isn't always the way.

Most of my favorites are on the Fat Wreckchords label but not all of them.

Lagwagon, Nofx, Strung Out, No Use For A Name, Bad Religion, Useless ID, The Gamits, Fifteen, Screeching Weasel, Bad Astronaut, Green Day (at the end of the day they're punk rock imho) Face to Face, The Queers,

ugh..its very early and my brain isn't fully working yet, there's many more I'm sure I'm not remembering but this is a short list...Any thoughts?
