Well the first one did come out 12 years ago, so I think it's justified getting excited over something 12 years in the making :p. A lot of great things took 12 years to make, including Avatar and 12 year old malt scotch :cheers2:

So is it a new game completely or is it an add-on? because 12 years for an expansion pack is a little ridiculous... fuckin Blizzard

I've been in the beta for a few months.

I played SC1 and brood war when I was 14 or so. I'm 23 now - so I've been awaiting SC2 for almost a decade now haha.

The beta was really great, they gave you full access to the multiplayer mode. The game lives true to its starcraft roots, same 3 races, familiar units but also lots of new units and abilities.

I had a hell of a lot of fun with it but I did eventually get burned out. The multiplayer is set up to be very very competitive.
Your game starts by throwing you into a few practice matches where the game is played on a slower speed with special no-rush maps :)
After that you get to do 5 placement matches and your win/loss ratio and other unknown statistics (unknown because they don't want you to cheat) determine what "league" you get placed into: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, or Diamond. And then you are placed somewhere within that league, from position 1-to-100. Diamond position 1 would be the top player in the game. You can move up/down leagues depending if you win/lose.

There is also a really nice map editor and they allowed custom made user maps to be uploaded to battle net and that was a lot of fun as well. Lots of cool stuff going on there.

There is also single player campaign mode, but they haven't allowed us to play that in the beta yet.

The beta is over for now but i think they're coming back with single player beta in a few weeks. I'll definitely be picking it up on July 27th, but I'm also enjoying having a nice long break from it, haha.

@Joker, pointless now, just look up lol

You can get videos of the gameplay here, but they make you use the blizzard downloader which is a slight pain http://us.starcraft2.com/movies.xml

@Noela, Yes, a LOT of people will push the limits on sleep and nutrient deprivation with this one, return of the lan party forreal.

I actually never got into WoW, I'm sure it's a great game, but I didn't feel like dedicating my life to it just to get to the point where I could start actually having fun :p. I would hate getting pwnt by any actual character who walked by until I was leveled up enough to stand a chance, as I was especially never a fan of PvE on an MMO. That's just my $0.01938548

Yeah Player-vs-environment isn't my thing on an MMO, let's just say I fucking hate quests lol, though I don't mind fighting monsters all too much

Also nice sig pic change, tripped me out for a second as it made me wonder if you really changed anything or if I just imagined the old picture.

I like wow, but haven't played the official server since wotlk came out. As for pve vs pvp?

If I want to beat on people, I'll do it in real life, I like these games for the co-operative aspect...
