PA does have the best sites east of the plains, from what I have seen, but there's only 2 or 3 of 'em, within 10 miles or so of each other as the crow flies.... Maybe here's the game...wait till all the broke crusty kids dig in in PA, then the ones with money & wherewithal to move reach a consensus to move 500 miles away.
Pull another wonder from their hat.. like last year . Though that move was thanks to a few unmentioned crusty kids.. Funny thing is crusty kids have more money then the people with money.. we just don't remember we have it.
IAM IN ERIE NOW HITTING THE ROAD SOONISH I HOPE LOVIN U ALL, may not be able to make the gathering, but will try n make the concil
karen zirk posted these updated directions this morning at agr. hope it helps and wish i could come home this year but distance and prior commitments will keep me away. Karin Zirk View profile More options Jun 4, 7:48 pm http://eastcoast2010gathering.blogspot.com/ *****Updated Directions*******. I received a call from a sister at the spring council site Friday, June 4 in the am (Cali time). The exit numbers on Interstate 80 have changed. The old exit and the new exit is listed on the sign. but if you're coming off I-80 - use New Exit #111. Then turn right on 153 and right on 219. From there the original directions are good. There is a lot of construction on the roads so be cautious. About 10 people are at the council site now. Hopefully more will be arriving shortly. Sheets Convenience Store no longer exits. Here is another set of directions from Ridgeway From downtown Ridgway PA, at the intersection of 219 and 948 (Main Street): Take Main Street (948) West approximately 1 mile Turn Right on Grant Street follow for 2.2 miles Turn left onto Bingham Rd then in 0.6 miles turn left to stay on Bingham Rd In 1.6 miles continue on Forest Road 135 Approximately 5 miles
This just in from a reliable source on of FB..."council de facto relocated to one mile east at the bear creek rec/picnic area on fs 129" And, yeah, I don't know what your fancy-scmancy googlymooglymapper says, but my old school Rand-McNally US Highway Atlas says get off I-80 at US Highway 219, the DuBois Exit, and just take that straight to Ridgeway. Or is there constructioon on 219 south of 153?
So Ive read this posted from 3 different sources today: "2010 rainbow gathering will be "somewhere in the allegheny national > forest" (first consensus from spring council) ~ more counciling and > scouting continues.... " "Family concensus at council...Pennsylvania...The Allegheny National Forest is the National!" Has anyone else heard this or can someone confirm it?
Ah, gotta love that sharing, caring, rainbow family vibe. As if the crusty kids who are doing all the scouting, and setting space that far in advance are drainbows that detract from the gathering in some fashion. Sad to see that sort of sentiment kicking around.
I'd love to someday again see the site of the '99 gathering on Bear Creek... That was near Ridgway PA. My only national. That happy occurrance still lives in my brightest dreams. No chance of getting off work I don't think, but I'm gonna try if it's that close (that is, in PA).
