Jeez - this could go in a lot of directions - you choose. But I'm talking about psychedelics - I had no freak out bummers, only good memories of acid - soooo why am I now unwilling - perhaps afraid - to take it. It's kinda weird. I really think it would probably be good for my state of mind, but I'm afraid! Maybe of the unknown - there is always unknown with acid - or perhaps that I might lose what sanity and ability to cope I have left. What about you?? I was a true acid freak of the early 70's.

If you can find some legit stuff I would do it. Better yet, if you're what we call an "old head" and haven't done any RC's I would suggest that.

In a sense the ego itself is a fearful thought. Psychedelics preform a surgical or violent assault on established thought patterns. The ego remembers this no matter that you found the experience ultimately beneficial. So appears the voice of fear saying, "follow me I will keep you safe", yet it's true intent is to keep you from going where you will. It's real intent is to keep you from discovering the self as it encourages us to conceal those things about ourselves that we feel others may judge us unworthy for. The ego in this sense seeks to drive a wedge between itself and like being. Everything seeks to be itself and the ego does not like you taking psychedelics because they threaten it's thought system.

    Perhaps.

I know the reason why I don't do any psychedelics like LSD etc. When I first did LSD back in the early sixties I know that that's all it was: by the seventies people were adding all kinds of shit to it. So that's when I pretty well stopped. As far as mushrooms and other organically grown psychedelics go, you have to be really careful because basically the reason you're getting psychedelic effects is because it's a side effect of the poison that's in them. I'm not saying that the poison is enough to kill you, but if you have any underlying health problems such as a bad liver for instance, it can be a bitch. When I was waiting for my liver transplant, someone offered me some mushrooms. I thought sure, why not. It was the worst painful experience I had ever had. I thought my liver was going to explode due to all the pain it was in. So, to summarize, if you can get some pure LSD, I think it could be alot of fun. But- the question is, can you get pure LSD?

I have had some difficulty with wild mushrooms and a sense of "intoxication". It appears to me that the unpleasant sickening is the result of chemicals produced by the various stages of decomposition of the mushroom rather than the Psychoactive chemicals. Regardless I can understand where an isolated chemical would be easier on your system.

I took acid maybe a dozen times total back then. Had a lotta fun. Partied hard at times and seem to recall taking a little while to recoup after doing it. Don't think I'd do it now--given the opportunity. Why? Injesting an unknown is risky behavior. The older I get, the fewer risks I take.

I remember the turning point. I have had many good acid trips. When the Dead came to town, I would always trip for one of the three shows, and I would trip other times, too, although as the years passed, I preferred home-grown mushrooms for spiritual discovery and acid for concerts.

But I remember the acid I took at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, September 19, 1987. It seemed like it wasn't really acid, like something had been done to it. It wasn't that it was weak, in fact, after the show I spent an hour sitting right in the middle of Times Square, grooving on the scene, and I was barely able to make it back to Brooklyn.

But I must say that ever since that day, I have not had a really good acid trip. I think the quality has gone way down. I trust mushrooms much more, altho last summer I bought some in a parking lot after a Dead show and they were fake. I didn't trust my own judgment that they looked funny, too orange.

Someday, I'm going to get back to growing my own.

It is difficult to find LSD of the quality that was around when i was 18-22 and liked to dose once or twice per week, every week, for years.

i actually took about 20 years completely off from psychedelics and went about living a life firmly plugged into the consensual reality Western dominant culture. But, i've got to say that led to serious burnout at about age 40.

My return to psychedelics was a slow one. It took a long time before i could hallucinate! Even 5 grams of Psilocybe Cubenis wasn't breaking through my rock solid foundation of resistance! My ego was stronger and larger than it had ever been in my youth. My sense of self was solid like the Rock of Gibralter and nothing could touch it. That is, until i started extracting DMT.

Working with DMT taught me a lot about fear in general and how toxic it is to all aspects of existence and society, my fear, how to deal with fear, my ego, my self, my attachment, loss and death issues.

Thus, when i finally did return to LSD it was a very, very joyous return. The guy who dosed me gave me 4 strong, big liquid drops and i wound up pasted to the ground underneath the branches of a tree as the sun set and having my sense of self split into two parts. One lying there looking up at a giant, gorgeous, spinning crystal in the sky; the other part of and up in the crystal and looking at myself lying on the ground with a catatonic look on my face and a really dumb-ass grin of ecstasy.

    There was nothing to fear.

i have now found that although i have a lot of resistances and like the older members in the first Matrix movie, i am hard to pull out even with the "red pill," and i return back to consensual reality quickly and easily, even from harrowing DMT trips, with no real lasting trauma or damage, but always, always, beautiful lessons learned.

i find that LSD no longer holds the power and fascination for me that it did in my youth. It's like i can't go as deep with it and it mainly offers me a path to "the cosmic giggle." But, combined with DMT, things become incredibly mystical/magical very, very quickly.

Okay, enough ranting. All i can say is that if you can find a good source (WoW - white on white are the best i can find today) it is worth procuring a little. Remember it keeps - cool, dark, dry, oxygen free. i took doses last October that were 25 years old with my husband and they worked just fine.

    Peace & Love,
    Spicey Cat

I myself would not suggest a RC to an OLD person.. there is very little medical documentation to prove it has little to no effect on geriatric health, be it experimental use or whatever..

I still trip a few times a year, keeps me young:D The good stuff is still out there, just alot harder to find the older you get. If I'm lucky enough to run into some decent stuff I will buy as much as possible to see myself through dry times.:)

I was one that needed a jolt like LSD can/has given. The words of the hippies spoken around me may as well been Swahili.Loss of ego, univeral consciousness--ect.I was into alcohol quite heavily with all the bad stuff that it entailed. Boy ,was I fearfull of it. But I was 28 when a friend convinced me to try it. BANG!!!! Just like turning off a switch--no alcohol for over 20 years, aside from an occasional beer after sitting in the sun roofing all day. And some understanding and shedding of necessary bull shit. It's been years for me too and like some others --I might take it again if I knew it was anywhere close to the "windowpane" I took . Never had a bad trip and helped quite a few others to get thru trips when they got "lost". Yeah---I guess I would.
