Hi everyone, I made a short documentary on extreme fans of the Karate Kid and just uploaded the whole darn thing to Youtube. It features an interview with Sensei Kreese, a wheelchair bound black belt, a bullied kid turned sensei and me training from scratch to fight in a tournament and being a giant nerd. If you get a chance, I'd love for you to check it out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xltJGnzOdA8"]YouTube- Karate Kid Fan Documentary (Part 1 of 5) Thanks very much & Bonsai! Sean
I Just saw The Karate Kid and LOVED IT! Why did I wait a quarter century before seeing this movie? Oh, guess I had a life back in the '80s. Anyhow, I was out in a video store yesterday with a mission: Find DVD's of The Karate Kid and Tron as background for the remake of both these classics. Found them both and last night saw The Karate Kid for the first time. I hope the new Will Smith movie with his son Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan showing on June 11, can come anywhere near this one. ------------------------------ Edit 06-11-10 Did I ever call that one. Precisely the problem I had with the remake. It was a good movie only problem was it is now different because of the young age of the main character. See The Karate Kid 2010 blurb here: http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?goto=lastpost&t=401282
I just saw it recently, too. My excuse is not being alive yet in the 80s. I can't wait for the remake to come out, hopefeully it'll be as good as the original
I watched the Karate Kid series. The first one was awesome but it sorter degraded as it went on but nethertheless it is still awesome
That is the way with most sequels. There is the initial movie that just wows everyone, then the studios have to milk it some more. Why I have so many firsts in my DVD collection without any of the sequels like Alien and Raiders of the Lost Ark. A lot of it is the new concept that affects ppl more than the production values and dazzling FX of the later movies. However, I plan to see the remake of Karate Kid. A lot of ppl will want to compare it to the original, but I will try to see it on the merits of a reimagining of a similar story. For one Jaden Smith is a pre-teen, so the whole teen romance thing will be muted, even if he has a "girlfriend."
I know dude when a series degrades its called 'sequelitis' I know for a fact it will be compared to the first one with people complaining about it. Hey its got Jackie Chan in it
