I am a person who has very similar beliefs to the classic 60s hippie, and i listen to all of the music from that era. I do not smoke though. Am i considered a hippie? What makes a person considered a hippie?
I've hung out with people who considered themselves hippies. And some that acted like they were hippies. I've thought of myself as a hippie every now and then. But i met a real hippie recently. She asked me to call her 'honey bee'. I forgot what her real name is. She said that she's been called that for so long, she can't remember where she got that nickname from. She looks like she's in her 60's. And she looks like she just came from woodstock. But it's not how she talks, or how she dresses that screams hippie at me. She radiates peace and love! I'm not exaggerating when i say radiates either. I can feel her presence! It's like i'm talking to Mother nature Herself. It gives me goosebumps just thinking about her right now. And no, it's not a sexual feeling i get from her. Just a feeling of peace and tranquility enveloping me like a comfortable blanket.
I am a hippie and i want to meet some hippie friends and a perfect hippie guy because hippie guys are amazing and hot ☮ PEACE
I dont think I qualify for hippie. Of course what IS a hippie? Surely not the stereotypes people like to throw around? I really don't know...
What does it matter whether others consider you a hippie or not and while we're discussing this, how sure are you that you share attitudes with the "classic 60's hippie"? From my perspective, the very act of conjuring this topic up and putting emphasis on how others are labeling you suggests that you are not- this without even considering the things (cultural, political) that helped cultivate the so-called "classic hippie" mindset. For whatever it's worth I suspect you may be wearing a kind of costume- that includes your attitude. "Real" hippies were far too concerned with what was going on around them to be bothered worrying whether others thought of them.
I think this is a valid point. I am considered by many to be an "Old Hippie." I fit the profile. I was there in the day, lived in communes, had indiscriminate sex with just about everyone I knew, hitch-hiked cross country, had long hair, wore bellbottom pants and sandals (or went barefoot) protested the establishment. And yet, I never thought of myself with the label "Hippie." I just was. Same as the ppl I hung out with. Sounds like a spiritual being - and she need not have come by way of the history that formed her but it probably helped. I have met similar "Earth Mothers" that were for real. I think young ppl having such a spiritual base and rebelling against the inequities that still exist in the established culture can aspire to the same ideals that we identify with being "Hippie."
i dont do weed either, but like u i also have the same belifs, and listen to the same music and i consider myself a hippie.so does everyone around me!! ive always been a hippie-always will be
Oh, one more thing I forgot to mention. I Don't Wear Deodorant! I like the smell of natural armpits that are without deodorant. I like rubbing my face in said armpits, and licking them. :drool5: Does that make me a Hippie - or just yer average old perv?
It makes you fit to join the cavalcade of Lady Divine, of course ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ktt40u0Tde4"]YouTube- Multiple Maniacs - John Waters (1970)
